Job Summary:

The Director of Business Development will create and execute the strategy needed to grow and maintain Precision Biomarker Laboratories' book of business. PBL is a new venture within the Cedars-Sinai network, built on the success of the Van Eyk Research Laboratory, that integrates novel proteomic methods and translational capabilities to advance clinically relevant biomarkers.

PBL comprises a contract research lab (CRO), translational lab, and CLIA lab, offering services to pharma, biotech and diagnostic companies. The Director will be responsible for lead generation, account planning, new account development and expansion of opportunities with existing accounts. As a member of the PBL leadership team, the Director will collaborate as needed with other CSMC departments, including the Technology Transfer Office, to deploy customized service and product offerings that address PBL client needs.

The Director will establish and manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) processes, and will execute strategies to secure contracts that achieve volume and revenue growth. Through strategic relationships with internal and external thought leaders and active participation in advisory councils, the Director will provide insights on potential shifts in menu and service requirements, scope, or opportunities. This role is an excellent opportunity for a highly self-motivated and strategic BD professional with deep experience and proven ability to drive multi-million-dollar sales in the human life sciences industry, including pharmaceuticals, biotech, and diagnostics.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and manage the business development strategy that will achieve PBL annual revenue and volume targets.

Develop a robust customer base with focus on the pharmaceutical, diagnostics and biotech industries

Plan and carry out all sales activities to develop new business accounts, maintaining a pipeline of qualified opportunities and accurately creating and maintaining sales forecasts

Gain insight to customers' business initiatives and challenges; proposing solutions to satisfy needs.

Provide comprehensive support and expertise to ensure PBL customers receive the highest quality service.

Work closely with PBL team members to develop quotes/proposals, communicating concepts to technical and non-technical key decision makers.

Formulate and implement a comprehensive pricing strategy.

Develop and maintain an effective Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform with in-depth customer profiles, engaging and informative customer communication, and useful status reporting.

Identify market needs, technology changes, trends, and opportunities, making recommendations to create sustainable competitive advantage.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of competitor offerings, regularly reporting to the leadership team.

Identify, recommend, and assist in developing strategic partnerships that offer opportunity for significant market advantage or ROI.

Represent PBL at industry meetings and customer events.

Recommend and execute a BD and sales team development plan, hiring and training as needed to support growth plans.

Achieve key quality and service index measures, and ensure compliance with all CSMC policies and government regulations.

Educational Requirements:

Min: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or related

preferred: Masters Degree: MBA, Life Sciences or related

Experience:

10 years Business development, direct customer sales, and marketing experience in laboratory sales and/or service.

7 years Management and Supervisory Experience.

5 years (preferred) Experience driving results within a hospital/health system or other complex matrixed organizational structure.
