How we LEAD:

As the Director of Business Affairs you will manage the business and legal affairs for assigned divisions and matters to ensure that contractual relationships of the Company are completed in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner, serving internal and external customers.

How you'll CREATE:

  • Draft and negotiate recording artist, exclusive license, and other agreements related to recordings, as well as songwriter, co-publishing, administration, catalogue acquisition, and other music publishing agreements as necessary.

  • Provide consultation, guidance and direction to division leaders on proposed and pending agreements, copyright terminations, and other various legal issues that arise.

  • Provide guidance to division leaders and other employees as to deal terms contained in prior agreements.

  • Assist VP with revising and updating standard contract forms used by Company.

  • Train and provide feedback to Company's Music Publishing and Motown Gospel divisions on drafting and negotiating simple publishing agreements, featured artist clearances, video production agreements, and producer/remixer agreements.

  • Serve as liaison with outside counsel as well as parent company's internal counsel concerning specialized legal matters being performed by such counsel.

  • Assist with any pending and threatened litigation in a timely and efficient manner in conjunction with parent company's legal department and outside litigators.

  • Other Duties as assigned.

Bring your VIBE:

  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience as an entertainment lawyer

  • Market place experience and business knowledge

  • Relationship building skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Must work with high degree of confidence and confidentiality

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities, being able to shift priorities as business needs require

  • College Degree

Responsibilities * Leadership of the brand's overall creative development process. * Provides creative ideation skills to lead Marketing team through proactive process to always look for a better way to generate business goals through creative assets. * Serves as a gatekeeper of all creative requests and assigns to creative resources appropriately. * Conceptualizes designs across multiple media and messaging platforms, including print, online, social, video, packaging and POP. * Communications leadership – responsible for communicating creative direction to resources and for gathering of feedback and information necessary to lead creative development process. * Critical member of the Marketing Leadership team to assist in development of initiatives to allow organization to be nimble to immediate environment as well as be proactive for longer term consumer trend changes. * Possesses excellent copywriting, design, layout and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with key decision makers and influencers. * Translates brand mission and vision into creative and leverages creative resources to execute cutting edge, persuasive marketing materials and positioning within the marketplace. * Creates and implements creative standards, templates, guidelines to govern brand asset creation. * Builds and maintains alliances and partnerships with key departments throughout the organization to foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and action toward strategic and tactical goals. * Team Leader – provide leadership within department and organization by leading various groups/teams to execute critical programs and projects. Qualifications * Solid 5+ years of creative leadership experience in retail Marketing * 5+ years' experience managing a creative solutions team * Bachelor's degree in Design, Marketing, or Communications preferred * Computer literacy is required with proficiency in graphic design software. * Possess a sense of fashion, trends, creativity, and persuasiveness. * Demonstrated experience in wide variety of marketing materials and channels. * Strong knowledge of creative production processes. * Proven success leading a team (internal and external). * Experience in analyzing impact on business and ROI of various marketing programs. * Strong project management skills managing and leading cross-functional teams. * Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment with the need to adjust and respond based on business conditions. * Skilled in communicating plans and direction with multiple departments within an organization to gain alignment and support. * Management/people development skills and experience. * Proficient in Microsoft Office. * Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time. * Ability to travel periodically based on business situation needs.
