PAY RANGE: PAY RANGE: Band 8 ($96,700 - $137,000/year)

The mission of Charles River Community Health (CRCH) is to partner with individuals and families so they can thrive and lead healthier lives by delivering the comprehensive, integrated, and equitable primary healthcare that matters most to them. The Director of Behavioral Health will oversee and coordinate all behavioral health services at the health center and be a champion of further integration of behavioral health and primary care. CRCH has two clinical sites currently open and is a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home and PRIME certified organization, committed to increasing integration and coordination of behavioral health and primary care. The Director of Behavioral Health will be part of an exciting, fast-paced practice with a strong mission and commitment to providing high quality care.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Program oversight & administration (12 hours/week)

  • Responsible for daily management and performance of the Behavioral Health department.

  • Responsible for the visual scorecard of BH safety, quality, production/performance, human development, and cost.

  • Work with Chief Clinical Officer to restructure the department as needed to further integrate services in order to meet the needs of our patients.

  • Responsible for reviewing referrals, problem solving, and being creative and innovative for improving access to patients.

  • Ensure adequate staff coverage for onsite patient visits, including a daily urgent/on-call clinician.

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate all department staff; actively develop existing staff, and be prepared to make quick personnel decisions when patient experience is at stake.

  • Serve as primary de-escalation point person within the health center, or designate a member of the Behavioral Health team, to apply effective de-escalation techniques when addressing disruptive or emotionally charged patients, as part of the emergency response protocol.

  • Drive Behavioral Health Clinician and Partnership Liaison and evaluate partnerships on an annual basis.

  • Serve on Credentialing Committee and ensure that BH staff comply with all credentialing requirements in collaboration with credentialing specialist.

  • Serve on QA/Risk Management Committee.

  • Deliver de-escalation training during monthly New Hire Orientation, to provide new CRCH employees with effective crisis intervention techniques.

  • Conduct monthly BH chart peer review to ensure that clinicians are meeting clinical documentation standards and compliance with CMS regulations.

Patient care (28 hours/week)

  • Work as a direct care outpatient behavioral health clinician for 7 sessions/28 hours per week.

  • Provide initial assessment, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and/or short-term intervention for patients.

  • Perform psychosocial assessments, including identification and evaluation of complex risk factors, and assign diagnoses (when appropriate).

  • Triage patient needs

  • 2 years of experience in a leadership role, with proven successful collaboration achievements within BH and across health center, required.

  • 2 years direct BH staff management experience including evaluations, mentoring, performance improvement planning, and professional development required.

  • Experience with Primary Care-Behavioral Health integration preferred.

  • Familiarity and experience working with Accountable Care Organizations strongly preferred.

  • Bilingual/bicultural strongly preferred.

  • Must have excellent communication skills with diverse staff and patients whose primary language is not English. arrange appropriate services for patients either within the clinic's Behavioral Health outpatient team or at affiliated hospitals and clinics.

  • Record assessments and interventions in patient medical records according to established documentation standards.

  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on presenting problem and clinical diagnosis.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, TRAITS

  • Psychologist preferred, or LICSW, with Valid MA license required.

  • 5-7 years of experience in direct patient care and/or health care administration with increasing level of responsibility. Prior community health center experience is desirable

  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills required.

  • Excellent ability to collaborate with clinicians and staff at all levels required.

  • Must have experience in diverse cultures, with strong commitment to promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and reducing inequities.

  • Must believe in the work we do at CRCH, with a strong passion to serve underserved populations in diverse settings.

  • Travel between both locations (Brighton and Waltham) is required.
