About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of BBA Programs, the Director of BBA Admission provides innovative, strategic leadership to oversee recruitment performance and goal attainment for all BBA programs.

The BBA program represents 650 students, and this position drives quality candidate recruitment and critical revenue for SMU in a highly competitive national landscape.

The role directs day-to-day management of the BBA Admissions team (Associate Director Coordinator), ensuring execution of strategy and alignment with SMU and Cox stakeholders (senior leadership, Student Services, faculty, marketing).

Collaborating with the Associate Dean, makes admission decisions and yields roughly 50% of the entire university's first-year class.

Essential Functions:

  • BBA Recruitment Strategy & Execution: provide leadership in recruitment of Cox BBA candidates, driving strategy to attract and retain BBA scholars and Business Direct Students in collaboration with Associate Dean. Develop recruitment relationships with prospective students, using frequent communication, social media, etc. Represent the program at local and remote (travel) recruiting events.

  • Oversee the selection of BBA applicants to programs to the Cox BBA Program, including two first-year admission programs, and two transfer admission programs. This includes the actual selection of the students which requires a strong knowledge of both the Cox School's enrollment goals, and university enrollment management goals.

  • Direct awarding and maintenance of the Cox BBA Scholarship program. This includes the award selection, fund management, and scholarship renewals.

  • Direct team of 2 staff (Associate Director / Coordinator) to develop and sustain a high level of performance, setting and directing team to achieve specific goals. Develop and enhance recruiting processes. Hire, train, supervise, motivate, mentor, manager, and evaluate team members, assessing and adjusting resources to sync with strategic plan and changing market conditions.

  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily operations of the BBA Admission Office, including managing information requests, planning campus visits, and recording / analyzing / reporting financial and operational data. Establish and cultivate relationships with Cox and campus-wide partners to share and disseminate best practices.

  • Communication: Project manage and develop the Cox communication continuum with creation of new prospective communication and retention programs. This includes programming, print, on-line, and in-person frequent communication efforts.

  • Program Management: lead programs / projects that enhances SMU/Cox brand and strengthen applicant pipeline (e.g., Subiendo Academy).

  • Provide additional support to broader Cox BBA team through other duties as assigned.

  • Position requires regular evening and weekend work for admissions and recruiting events.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree is required.

A minimum of seven years of work experience in admissions and/or student services in higher education is required.

A minimum of one year of supervisory/management experience is also required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also have the ability to present information effectively to individual and groups and manage significant public contact. Commitment to customer service, the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.

Candidate must demonstrate strong written communication skills with a strong focus on attention to detail. Must also have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions.

Candidate have strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills. Must also demonstrate strong initiative, judgment and the ability to function independently. The ability function comfortably in a team structure is essential.

Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of MS Suite (MS Word, MS Excel) and database management skills. A working knowledge of and/or experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.

Candidate must have a valid driver license, a clean driving record and must be insurable.
