GENERAL SUMMARY: The Sports Information Director is responsible for planning and implementing communication strategies related to the goals and objectives of Edward Waters University's 17 athletic programs.

They serve as the main contact for specific sports, handling publicity, information, and historical archives, and also act as the secondary contact for all other sports. The role involves ensuring knowledge and compliance with NCAA, SIAC, and University rules, regulations, and policies. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Generate ideas and conduct research for news articles, feature stories, and other content Create high-quality content for the university's print and digital media outlets Arrange interviews, press conferences, and photo opportunities for university promotion Edit and contribute to various university publications Build positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, media outlets, and the general public Support game day activities and marketing initiatives Assist in organizing ticketed group/theme days Participate in planning fan experiences and on-field activities Attend weekly meetings for the University Advertising Committee, Athletics Department, and Athletic Staff Maintain departmental records and statistical files related to athletic programs Update athletic statistics on the website Prepare and distribute weekly statistical reports Aid coaches in completing All-Conference nomination forms for each sport Prepare NCAA year-end reports for all athletic programs Develop pre-game press releases for special contests in collaboration with the athletic director Write press releases for special interests, awards, events, and accomplishments within the athletic programs Create and submit weekly player profiles to local media outlets Disseminate information about athletic camps and activities to the media Maintain regular communication with the Athletic Director and in-season coaches Provide coverage for all home athletic contests Conduct post-event interviews and create post-game press releases for media distribution Oversee a team of graduate assistantships and interns Adhere to NCAA, SIAC, and EWU rules and regulations Perform other administrative duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's Degree is preferred 2 to 5 years of experience in Division I or Division II compliance is necessary Possess a strong working knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required Commitment to high professional ethical standards is expected Ability to establish effective working relationships with stakeholders Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues across the campus
