This is administrative work involving supervising, coordinating and managing the College's fleet at all Calhoun campuses. Responsible for the proper planning, preparation, administration, and evaluation of the athletic programs and related activities. Provide administrative oversight for intercollegiate athletics. The position requires organizational, administrative and public relations skills necessary to develop and oversee a comprehensive athletic program for students.

Salary:  Appropriate placement on the ACCS Salary Schedule C2: $76,089 - $117,986

  • Inspect physical condition of fleet vehicles and oversee maintenance, repairs, or replacements.

  • Assign and supervise bus drivers.

  • Lead the Athletic Department activities

  • Prepare and manage budgets for athletic teams.

  • Assist in purchases for athletic teams.

  • Promote and encourage fair play, good sportsmanship and ethical standards of conduct, both on and off the field.

  • Plan and oversee a wide range of athletic opportunities for students in compliance with the ACCS Board of Trustee policies and Title IX, NJCAA, and ACCC guidelines.

  • Hire, supervise and assess performance of all athletic and support personnel within the department.

  • Schedule activities for Kelley Gymnasium and Fred Frickie Park.

  • Ensure coaches, recruits and student athletes meet all eligibility rules and proper records are maintained.

  • Responsible for preparation and timely submission of reports.

  • Work with staff on athletic discipline issues ensuring due process.

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a professional manner while promoting Calhoun Athletics at the college and in the community.

  • Work with the media to develop a positive relationship of the Athletic Department and its program.

  • Comply with all policies of the ACCS Board of Trustees, the Department of Post-Secondary Education, and the college.

  • Coordinate Concessions for athletics and other events in Kelley Gymnasium.

  • Represent the college for the ACCC and NJ CAA meetings as required.

  • Perform all duties with professionalism.

  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

  • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required. 

  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience coaching at the collegiate level is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:

  • Proficient computer usage in administrative software systems such as Datatel/Colleague, Ellucian/Banner, or PeopleSoft;

  • Documented evidence in the use of computer software programs including internet and email (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.); 

  • Demonstrated evidence of ability to produce academically strong athletes;

  • Strong communication, collaboration and organizational skills;

  • Ability to represent the College in a professional manner while recruiting or in public forums;

  • Proven ability to build strong community relationships;

  • Demonstrated ability to work with college administration in furthering the College's mission within budgetary constraints;

  • Ability to keep complex records and prepare accurate reports;

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public in a pleasant and effective manner;

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information;

  • Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds including students, parents, college employees, and the public;

  • Ability to handle various situations in a calm and professional manner;

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize issues;

  • Ability to utilize email systems to communicate information;

  • Ability to operate in a professional manner at all times;

  • Ability to operate in a high pressure situation and respond to issues in a calm manner;

  • Conscientious- care about how work is done and wanting to do a good job;
