Director Of Athletic Events & Facilties

Waldorf University and the Athletic Office has an immediate opening for the position of Director of Athletic Events & Facilities. This position is a member of the Athletic Operations team and reports to the Athletic Director. Will lead, coordinate, and serve as the primary administrator/game manager for home athletic events and use and of equipment/facilities. This is a full-time 12mo position with other administrative responsibilities outside of the traditional year activities.

The successful candidate would be perceptive, able to work independent yet be a part of a team, able to interact with all types of people and have a fun and positive demeanor. Must be highly organized, able to prioritize daily work activities, anticipate and perceive needs of the department, university, events, officials, guests, and staff. Able to problem solve and make decisions. Strong technical skills to aid in set up and troubleshooting of digital components of events (live stream, cameras, electrical connections, computer connections…). Reliability is essential job function. Must be flexible and willing to adapt to a varied schedule and take pride in executing successful events.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline

• Demonstrated management skills.

• At least one to three years' experience in sports industry or related filed.

• Appreciation and understanding of intercollegiate athletics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary administrator/game manager for home athletic events. Responsible for coordinating set up and take down of event(s).

• Shared responsibility as senior administration at athletic events.

• Manage personnel and supervise game management staff (coaches, support staff, and student workers).

• Schedule on-call game managers and event staff as needed.

• Prepare all facilities for practice and games.

• Schedule, confirm, and pay officials for all home contests.

• Setup and coordinate live-stream and game photography.

• Prepare locker rooms and greet opposing teams and officials.

• Organize concession coverage for all home events (athletic teams or others)

• Coordinate and schedule field lights.

• Manage Neptune music for practices, games, performances, lifting sessions, etc.

• Send out visitors guide with point of contact information.

• Responsible for maintenance oversight and upkeep for athletic facilities and equipment; advise on facility assessment and improvements.

• Aid in inventory control of equipment and supplies.

• Perform end of season venue clean up, storage, and season event/facility assessment.

• Key leader in annual golf fundraising event in June.

In addition to working closely with members of the Athletic Department, the Director of Athletic Events & Facilities will also work with the following:

• Athletics Department Operations staff to ensure coverage of event and department needs are met and communicated clearly.

• Sports Information Director assist with historical records and media day and athletic events are coordinated (picture coverage).

• Business Office and to process any purchases/payments.

• Payroll department to review and submit payroll for student workers

• Outside vendors such as Presto, Hudl, Daktronics, and other sports software.

• Coaching staff to schedule facilities and seek outside venues.

• Shared services/public school upon shared request of all facilities.

• Director of Waldorf's Dining and Conferences to schedule outside groups and requests.

• Athletic Operations Coordinator on game day promotions, social media, and other athletic department events.

• Collaborate with university's Marketing department to produce any print-related promotional materials for all Waldorf athletic programs.
