This position is responsible for the administrative functions of the Air Wing Maintenance Section. Administrative duties include the scheduling of Aviation Mechanic duties and responsibilities, prioritizing necessary aircraft work, determining if work can be completed by existing staff or if maintenance must be contracted out, and maintaining preventive maintenance schedule in conjunction with Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) guidelines.
This position is also responsible for ensuring that the mechanics working on aircraft have all necessary certifications and training. This position is directly responsible to the Unit Commander for the overall operation of a FAA-approved repair station. These responsibilities include compliance with all FAA regulations and technical data approved by the administrator.
The position ensures that proper licenses and paperwork associated with the repair station and the aircraft are maintained at all times. It also ensures revisions to repair station's manual of standard operating procedure are in compliance with FAA regulations and maintains contact with local FAA officials to assure airworthy aircraft is available to the Air Wing on an as needed basis. It is the responsibility of this position to establish that all work records are properly executed by the responsible mechanic once the job task is completed.
This includes writing the inspection work sheets prior to the job's start as well as checking the sheets after the job is completed to ensure all work is in compliance with FAA regulations. It is the responsibility of this position to ensure and ascertain via inspection that all work by employees and contractors is performed in accordance with FAA and manufacturer specifications. This position ensures the compliance and maintenance of an up-to-date technical data file and library which includes overhaul manuals, current revisions, service bulletins, airframe and power plant manuals and specifications, FAA airworthiness directives, and all applicable Federal Air regulations. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in a particular specialty (i.e. scientific, professional, or technical) and must possess current license and/or registration requirements established for the performance of the position, of which (B) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience.
II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.
III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the (A) required experience.
IV. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the (A) required experience.
In addition to these requirements, the individual must have the following qualifications:Possession of current and valid FAA Airframe and Power Plant
(A & P) and Inspection Authorized (IA) licenses
FAA mechanic's certification in both airframe and power plant ratings for a minimum of 3 years
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the maintenance of aircraft with either an air carrier or certified repair station, 1 year of which must have been as a maintenance inspector; 1 year of experience in the supervision of other maintenance mechanics
5 years of experience with piston and turbine engines for fixed wing aircraft
Factory trained in the Eurocopter EC 135 Airframe
Factory trained in the Turbomeca helicopter engine
Arriel Deep maintenance qualified
