Minimum Qualifications

Must possess good communication, writing, and proof reading skills ? all with high degree of accuracy. Knowledge of office methods, procedures, practices, and bookkeeping/accounting and proven success in budget management.

Ability to quickly learn, interpret and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures with their respect to the University. Organization, prioritization, judgment and problem-solving skills are essential. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) requirements and Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) standards required.

Demonstrated knowledge of office operations. Computer skills in database management, word processing and spreadsheets. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally through written and verbal communications with both technical and non-technical peers. Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty and staff. Ability to work independently.

Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines. Managerial, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.

Ability to be flexible and offer new ways to add value to the University.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions that impact the organization. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekends as needed.

VIEW JOBS 3/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-16T00:00 The Hampton/Peninsula Health District (HPHD) is looking for an experienced physician as Deputy Director. The District has a population of approximately 400,000 and is located in southeast Virginia and includes the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and Williamsburg and the counties of York and James City. The cities are among the first founded in Virginia. The Deputy reports to the District Director and serves in the director's absence and is an active member of the senior management team. The Deputy supervises other physicians, physicians' assistants, and nurse practitioners through Practice and Prescriptive Authority Agreements as well as epidemiology, emergency preparedness staff and programs, pharmacy services and lab. The Deputy works with the nurse manager to evaluate clinic service productivity and performance data and implements strategies or changes to improve performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The Deputy develops medical policies and procedures and as assigned for the district director's approval. The incumbent works with population health on development of the districts' community health assessment and community health improvement plan and works with community partners in carrying out such plans. Responsibilities may include providing hands-on patient care. The Deputy serves as the primary provider for TB patient assessment and care. The clinics treat sexually transmitted infections, provide family planning services, and provide immunizations. Duties may secondarily include consultation, assistance, and clinical services as needed for programs such as refugee screening programs or school physicals. APPLICATION SCREENING WILL BEGIN ON 3/15/19. Minimum Qualifications Valid Virginia medical license and driver's license. Training in preventive medicine and public health required. Ability to communicate lucidly and effectively orally and in writing. Experience in data collection, compilation, and assessment, and in accessing and utilizing data sets. Experience in managing a team; working with and through others to get a job done. Must be able to work independently, including working with community groups and individuals who are not direct reports. Must be proficient in standard information technology programs. Preferred Qualifications Skill and experience in tuberculosis management and treatment. Experience working in public health or other related health setting such as the military where the health of a target population is the focus. MPH preferred and board certification or eligibility in preventive medicine. Training or experience in program planning and evaluation, grant writing and working with the media.
