JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Admissions & Student Services provides leadership in the Office of Academic Affairs for the College of Veterinary Medicine. The Director develops and implements the overall strategy and vision for DVM student support, including admissions and enrollment, wellness programming, community and belonging, student clubs and organizations, orientation, career services, and alumni engagement. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

25% - Essential

  • Recruitment Planning: Organize, implement, and oversee all recruitment activities for the college in partnership with the Dean and Dean's leadership team to meet enrollment targets of the college. Develop and implement strategic recruitment plan under guidance of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA) and CVM Leadership Team to enhance the prospective student experience, including campus visitation programs, recruitment fairs, and other programming aimed at prospective students and their families. Serve as liaison to regional HBCUs and MSIs, working with program directors for pre-health professions and scholars programs in coordination with the Clemson University Division of Community, Engagement, Belonging and Access (CEBA). Partner with Clemson's central Enrollment Management division regarding university-wide recruitment, admissions, and scholarship strategies. Coordinate with Clemson University Division of CEBA on scholarships to aid in targeted recruitment.

25% - Essential

  • Admissions Process Management: Oversee the work of the CVM Admissions Committee to develop and implement admissions policies and processes for CVM in concordance with SC State policy, legal requirements, and leading industry practices. Oversee auditing of applicant files for prerequisite GPA, classes, etc. Design, organize and deliver training for members of the Admissions Committee on: (1) the admission process, (2) considerations of equitable access vs. merit in admissions processes, and (3) bias reduction strategies. Partner with Chair of Admissions Committee and Director of Outcomes Assessment to review and refine admissions processes based on input from the previous cycle, data on admissions yield, and student performance data. Serve as college liaison to the Veterinary Medicine College Application System (VMCAS), ensuring smooth integration of VMCAS system and Clemson's admissions system. Collect and evaluate data to continually inform and improve admissions processes.

20% - Essential

  • Student Services & Support: Provide leadership for holistic student support and co-/extra-curricular support to DVM students under the direction of the ADAA and CVM Leadership Team. Develop and refine policies for student services and student organizations at CVM. Liaise with Clemson's student affairs division and the Graduate School student services team to provide broad and cross-campus support for DVM students. Manage, review, and elevate student issues needing attention and resolution by the ADAA and CVM Leadership Team. Use independent judgment to resolve issues not needing elevated attention and resolution.

30% - Essential

  • Management & Operations: Prepare and manage all budgetary aspects of the student life cycle, including travel and outreach conducted by faculty in support of recruitment efforts, and student programming budgets. Manage a team of student support personnel.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Master's Degree

Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in higher education admissions

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Master's Degree in in education, education leadership, higher education administration, college student personnel, psychology, education psychology, sociology, or similar field.

Experience

  • 3+ years experience working in admissions at the graduate level in higher education, preferably for a professional degree program.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Anticipated Hiring Range ($85,000.00 - $110,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
