Director of Admissions

The Office of Admissions is home to dedicated staff members who recruit undergraduate, transfer, graduate and international students into Fredonia's campus-based and online programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

  • Report directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Services and oversee strategic recruitment programs, tactics, and initiatives necessary in achieving the campus' annual enrollment goals;

  • Develop and administer recruitment and communication efforts aimed at prospective first year, transfer, undergraduate, graduate and international students as well as parents, counselors, and community college/industry partnership programs;

  • Lead and manage a team of professionals including the Associate Director of Admissions Operations, Assistant Directors, Admissions Counselors, and clerical staff in the execution of annual recruitment plans and daily operations of the Admissions Office.

  • Facilitate the establishment of annual recruitment goals by student prospect type (freshmen, transfer, online adult baccalaureate, graduate online/on-campus and international

  • Manage and implement a comprehensive recruitment budget for the unit;

  • Create and coordinate a comprehensive admissions marketing communications plan;

  • Collaborate with the Office of Marketing & Communications, Athletics, and other units to ensure the continued development of the Fredonia Brand in regional and national market;

  • Utilize predictive modeling and data-based techniques throughout the admissions process, including student search, prospects, applicants, accepts, deposits, and enrolled students;

  • Manage relationship-building with external constituents including high schools, community colleges, international partners and international recruiters;

  • Travel, predominantly within New York, for recruitment of prospective students;

  • Assist in campus-wide efforts to increase diversity and international enrollments;

  • Develop recruitment initiatives geared toward increasing out-of-state market share, applications, and yield;

  • Provide direction to and leadership of on campus & online recruitment events

  • Be an active and contributing team member by building and promoting positive professional working relationships across campus;

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of campus' NACAC aligned admissions policies and procedures;

  • Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively, collaboratively and in a collegial and professional manner, with students, faculty, and staff, as well as external constituents;

  • Possess a personable, professional demeanor with strong leadership skills and demonstrated experience building a positive, trusting team atmosphere;

  • Experience with Banner (SIS), Slate (CRM), and imaging systems;

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, data analytics for predictive and prescriptive enrollment modeling;

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to present dynamically to various groups including, prospective students;

  • The ability to multi task, meet goals and deadlines;

  • Demonstrated commitment to the University, Division, and profession;

  • Demonstrated track record of progressive leadership that is both inclusive and collaborative;

  • Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;

  • Significant experience in admissions, enrollment planning and other areas supervised as appropriate;

  • Proven ability to lead, develop, motivate, and supervise staff;

  • Experience in the development of comprehensive recruitment and yield plans;

  • Proficient with technology and its implementation into an effective recruitment plan;

  • Solid experience and comprehensive knowledge related to the role of marketing in admissions;

  • Ability, adaptability, and willingness to work flexible hours and extended days within a very fluid ever-changing environment;

  • Experience and competence in managing comprehensive budgets;

  • Clear understanding and background in utilizing and collecting data and analysis;

  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of campus and department mission;

  • Ability and willingness to travel, including possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to drive a vehicle for recruitment travel;

  • Significant experience utilizing a CRM as a recruitment platform.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least six (6) years of progressively responsible, professional level experience in higher education, in admissions, recruitment, outreach and marketing, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.

  • Experience with Banner (SIS), Slate (CRM), and imaging systems.

  • Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, Appendix A position, beginning June 1, 2024 or sooner.

Salary range of $100,000-$115,000.
