We are currently looking for a Director of Accounting to join the Thales Avionics, a subsidiary of Thales USA team in Irvine, CA.
The Director of Accounting oversees and directs all aspects of Thales In-Flyt Experience General Accounting. He/She is responsible for providing accurate actuals, continuous improvement of tools and processes to provide effective data with optimized cost, responsible for continuous enhancement of ERP and related accounting tools and responsible for the optimization of economic performance by verifying optimal use of own resources.
Ensures the accuracy and submission of all Thales In-Flyt Experience financial data to CFO of BL, GBU, Group and Thales USA, including but not limited to: financial statements, regulatory compliance, SEC public company reporting, reconciliation and internal control
Supports internal and Thales USA audit process, ensuring all audit requests are timely and completely provided
Oversees inventory analysis and reconciliation to ensure proper recording of all inventory items
Oversees accounts payable process to ensure timely payment to vendors and application of internal controls regarding adequate documentation
Oversees monthly communication of actual results to Finance department to ensure accurate forecast process
Oversees accounts receivable process to ensure accurate billing to and timely payment by all customers
Oversees research and analysis process to ensure proper capitalization treatment for all fixed assets and AFE's
Drives harmonized processes in accounting and optimization as well as automation of tools
Responsible to continuously improve the Accounting processes in order to be more (cost) efficient on BL IFE level
Supervises and supports internal control to ensure proper procedures are in place to prevent unauthorized transactions and to meet corporate requirements
Ensures proper recording of all Intercompany cash transactions in liaison with Thales US and Group Treasury (Cash Management/Treasury)
Ensures proper handling of insurance related issues in form of coordination with and in liaison with Thales Risk Insurance Management (Risk Management)
Ensures proper recording of all tax related issues including foreign tax (Tax Filing)
Assists Employees with understanding Corporate Stock Plans (Stock Options)
Ensures all accounting and reporting transactions are properly recorded IFRS//SEC/GAAP)
Supports all relevant Thales USA external and Thales In-Flyt Experience internal reporting requirements
Other projects as determined by CFO
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 10+ years accounting and/finance experience or MBA/ Master's degree in Finance with 10+ years' experience in field
Experience in supervising and managing an Accounting department
Successful track record of leading and transforming finance teams
Solid track record of business partnering
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects and priorities
Highly proficient with ERP System specifically SAP and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Self-starter requiring minimum supervision
Proven technical accounting research and analysis
Technology proficiency with a focus on financial systems
