Duties
These positions will provide support and services to superintendents in districts needing academic improvements, particularly in districts with high concentrations of underrepresented and/or rural poverty students. Ideal candidates will have experience with either underrepresented student populations, rural poverty, or both.
Deliver direct services to superintendents while serving as a role model and resource for problem-solving.
Establish small working groups that meet on a regular basis to provide support systems and both in-person and online networking for superintendents.
Assist superintendents in analyzing student academic performance and help create academic recovery, support, and enrichment opportunities and programs for students.
Provide support for productive superintendent/board/faculty/administrative relationships.
Be trained in the delivery of IASA's professional development programming, develop new academies, and deliver IASA programs as requested and scheduled.
If requested, be available to attend IASA regional meetings to increase IASA's presence, availability, and support for superintendents.
Learn about and promote IASA sponsored programs.
Provide updates on DAE activities to the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Experience with and proven track record of improving academic performance of students.
Experience working with teachers/faculty on school improvement action plans.
Experience developing school board member relationships.
Experience analyzing student academic performance and planning school improvement.
Experience coaching and developing principals and other district level administrators.
Required Credentials:
Preferred Credentials:
Reputation as a successful Illinois Superintendent.
Understanding of the School Improvement Process.
Demonstrable success improving student academic outcomes.
Salary/Benefits
Terms of Employment:
This position will work approximately 110-120 days per year. This is not a TRS position. IASA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
