Job Summary:
Overview: Join us in shaping and growing a professional advising team within the Ferguson College of Agriculture at Oklahoma State University. This new position will help design and manage the professional advising support structure in alignment with the student focused culture, student success goals, and retention initiatives of the college.
Responsibilities:
1.Lead and Manage Advising Functions for the Ferguson College of Agriculture. Percentage of
Supervise a team of academic advisors (approx. 10-12), providing leadership, guidance, and support in their roles.
Collaborate with Ferguson college academic departments to serve undergraduate students and remain up-to-date on agriculture and natural resource curricula.
Stay informed about academic policies, curriculum changes, and campus resources to provide accurate and up-to-date information to advisors and students.
Conduct regular assessment of advising programs to continually enhance the quality of services provided.
Foster an environment that promotes the family-oriented culture of the Ferguson College of Agriculture that is focused on student engagement and success.
Represent the college on related university and college level committees or meetings as necessary.
Engage in professional development activities to maintain appropriate career readiness and certification.
Other duties or special projects as needed.
2.Support Collaborative Initiatives in the Ferguson College of Agriculture.
Work with the Assistant and Associate Dean and the academic programs staff to develop and implement initiatives that improve success, retention, and graduation for students in the Ferguson College of Agriculture.
Serve as a college resource for summer orientation and enrollment process as needed. Collaborate with first year success center and undergraduate admissions to provide positive academic advising experience for incoming students.
3.Serve as an Academic Advisor for the Ferguson College of Agriculture.
Manage a caseload of approximately 100 students, offering personalized academic guidance and support.
Assist students in exploration of career and life goals, program selection, and course selection.
Teach one section of First Year Seminar per year.

Education & Experience
Position Qualifications:
Required:
Master's degree
Minimum of 7 years of experience in academic advising or a related field.
Prior supervisory experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to effectively manage a team and provide mentorship to academic advisors.
Successful completion of university provided supervisory training within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work experience or at least one degree in a field related to agriculture and natural resources
