JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Nursing manages Labor and Delivery with responsibility for planning, selecting, and/or devising methods, policies and procedures for Managers and Staff employees to accomplish designated goals. The Director of Nursing negotiates interdepartmental resources, communicates and plans with various cross-functional departments to ensure effective level of service to Nursing Units.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Oversee the operational, personnel and fiscal management of assigned areas of responsibility with an emphasis on high quality, cost effective patient care.

  • Monitor daily productivity, addressing variance from established standards and adjust staffing to maintain established productive standard.

  • Establish annual unit-specific quality improvement goals, conduct monitoring, analysis, process changes, reporting and re-evaluation of prepared goals to Nursing Quality Council and Clinic Quality Council.

  • Investigate adverse events, review data and findings, assessing for trends, acting on self-remediation needs and identify opportunities for development.

  • Collaborate with non-nursing departments to establish processes and address issues which enhance the provision of patient care and satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - Masters Degree strongly preferred
  • EXPERIENCE - A minimum of 5 years experience required
  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

Registered Nurse (RN)

Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitate (CPR): BLS or CPR Required.

Responsibilities: * Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. * Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. * Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders. * Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. What You Will Need Licenses/Certifications/Registration: * Required Credential(s): * BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. * Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * Preferred Credential(s): * Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation. * Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program credentialed from the S.T.A.B.L.E. Program. Education: * Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
