Position Summary

As the NWC Director, your will serve as chief administrative officer and will be responsible for overall administration, supervision, and coordination of a program of active treatment services provided by a qualified, trained and appropriately supervised workforce in compliance with ICF/IID and other state and federal regulations and laws.

Using a person-centered and trauma informed care approach, you will be responsible for long range planning, managing personnel, overseeing biennial budget preparation, overseeing buildings and grounds maintenance/improvements and facility utilization planning, and developing and implementing contemporary quality improvement practices.

Throughout your work, you will interface with numerous internal and external partners including employees, county officials, managed care organizations, advocates and parents/guardians.

Salary Information

The starting salary is $56.98 per hour (approximately $118,500 per year), plus excellent benefits. A 24-month probationary period is required.

This position is classified as an Institution Superintendent and is in pay schedule/range 81/01. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. For current employees transferring or promoting into this supervisory role, the current compensation plan allows an increase up to the $56.98 per hour rate or an increase up to $6.18 per hour from the current pay rate.

Job Details

  • All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

  • All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by NWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

  • DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following:

  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator in the State of Wisconsin. Eligible is defined as your license is currently in progress with the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, or you currently hold a license in another state and are eligible to obtain a license in the State of Wisconsin. You must obtain licensure within 4 months of hire.

  • Experience in a senior leadership role (i.e., overseeing the care or operations) within a program or facility responsible for the care and treatment of populations with needs related to mental health or intellectual/developmental disabilities.

  • Experience facilitating or leading quality improvement or quality assurance practices.

  • Experience developing or overseeing an operational budget (e.g., developing biennial budget requests, ensuring budget compliance, implementing cost-effective budget alternatives, etc.).

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience leading the 24/7 operations of a facility with 100+ employees and various multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) or Wisconsin Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) standards and funding expectations.

  • Experience with the administration and best practices of inpatient and community-based supports in a behavioral health or intellectual/development disabilities program.

  • Degree in a human services field.
