Job Summary:

Denali is a leader in organic recycling and our goal is to repurpose various organic waste streams for municipalities, food processors, restaurants, and grocery stores, as a provider of essential sustainability and landfill diversion services for numerous Fortune 100 Companies, we play an integral role in assisting clients in reaching their ESG initiatives.

The right individual will work with local operations management to lead the sales and support to the Rocky Mountain region of Denali, where Denali is the industry leader in the region. The candidate will possess a strong knowledge of water/wastewater (biosolids) management and technology as well as office operations, as well as a willingness to learn about the business of biosolids and organic waste recycling.

The Director of Municipal Sales is primarily responsible for overseeing the sales performance of the Municipal customer segment, and other emerging segments. This leadership position is devising strategies to optimize sales practices for the target segments. The responsibilities include monitoring the progress of municipal sales effort, setting objectives and deadlines, performing research and analysis to identify sales opportunities, and coordinating with different departments to improve procedures and reach sales targets. Must be able to lead and encourage the workforce, all while implementing the company's policies and regulations.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for all sales activities for the Municipal customer segments in the Rocky Mountain Region. Establish the segment sales strategy, including strategies to expand the Municipal segment footprint through selling more services to existing customers. Establish strategies to enter new segments of municipal food waste and composting. Renew existing customer business with 98% or better retention rate.

  • Supports sales by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; initiating telecommunications.

  • Supports sales and marketing activities by planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, teleconferences, and travel as needed.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized proposals and solutions that meet the specific needs of each client.

  • Experience with Salesforce including CRM implementation.

  • Proven experience with complex contract negotiations with municipal procurement buyers.

  • Provide ongoing support and account management to ensure client satisfaction and maximize long-term relationships.

  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to expand your professional network and generate leads.

  • Capitalize on new revenue opportunities by successfully delivering complex RFP responses involving multiple partners resulting in new contract wins.

  • Provide product, promotion, and pricing information by clarifying customer requests; selecting appropriate information; forwarding information; and answering questions.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed and other duties as assigned.

Competency: Proficient in Salesforce, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office. Must be detail oriented, accurate, flexible, and dependable. Strong written and oral communication skills. Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or dry conditions, fumes or airborne particles, or overwhelming odors.

Physical demands: The position primarily requires sitting, typing, and viewing a computer. Other less frequent physical demands include bending and lifting.

Travel: Travel of 35-50% is expected with this position.

Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required with a basic knowledge of biology, chemistry and/or environmental engineering.

  • 10 years of relevant sales experience and a history of exceeding quota

  • Possess extensive knowledge of sales principles and practices, and an ability to coach others on them.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Strength in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.

  • Strong leadership and team building skills.
