Assistant Director of Technology Services - 2025-2026

Summary of position

The primary responsibilities of this position include assisting the Director of Technology Services in managing the day-to-day operations of the department and coordinating data sync and data security operations for all Pattonville technology-related systems. In addition, this position offers instructional perspectives to inform decision making in the department. This position reports to the Director of Technology Services.

Desired Qualifications

Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Instructional Technology, Computer Science or other related field

Salary range:

• Current 2024-2025 salary range is $92,270 - $131,390
• Salary will be adjusted to reflect the upcoming 2025-2026 school year

Essential Functions:

• Management responsibilities:

• Support the Director of Technology Services in overseeing daily technology support operations.

• Assist in evaluating the performance of technology services staff and participating in the hiring process for new team members.

• Aid in responding to digital security incidents and breaches and investigating security and policy violations.

• Offer teacher and student perspectives to inform decision-making and enhance training initiatives within the Technology Services Department.

• Teaching & Learning Responsibilities:
  

• Collaborates with the Teaching & Learning department to support the implementation of action steps outlined in the district CSIP plan related to innovation, personalized learning and instructional technology devices and materials to support instruction.

• Collaborates with the Teaching and Learning department for the review and implementation of new student devices K-12.

• Research, evaluate, and recommend appropriate instructional technologies, including learning management systems (LMS), multimedia tools, and other educational software.

• Develop and deliver professional development for staff on the effective implementation and use of instructional technologies and cyber security best practices.

• Coordinate the activities of the District Instructional Technology Team.

• Coordinate data security & data sync operations for all Pattonville technology-related systems:

• Oversee identification and classification of all data collected and stored by Pattonville School District.

• Overseeing data synchronization between district and third-party systems (implementation, troubleshooting, decommissioning).

• Ensuring data privacy and security: classifying data, evaluating online services, documenting access rights, delivering security training, and reviewing third-party system terms/privacy

• Make recommendations regarding the use of third party systems based on terms and conditions and privacy statements. Identify potential data security breaches and notify appropriate personnel.

• Evaluate new and existing online services used or proposed by staff, ensuring that all data collection and storage procedures comply with the law and Board policy.

• Document and monitor employee access rights to confidential information.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of education data privacy and security best practices
• Experience developing and leading professional learning experiences for adults
• Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience
• Minimum 3 years supporting teachers in the use of instructional technology
• Experience using education technology systems
• Experience transferring data between systems
• Experience collecting and analyzing data via spreadsheets and databases
• Experience managing projects involving stakeholders in multiple organizations
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as part of a team
• Experience managing or directing the activities of a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel between district school buildings
