JOB SUMMARY:

The Director is responsible for providing technical assistance, and training to the manufacturing community to help improve their competitiveness. MMTC-NE's primary focus is to assist manufacturers with the decisions and projects affecting their productivity and profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for sales and marketing of services associated with the operations of the center.

  • Identify the training needs of the manufacturing community through formal and informal needs assessment.

  • Market, and deliver programs/services in a cost-effective manner.

  • Hire, direct, and supervise trainers, instructors, and staff.

  • Supervise special projects and grants as assigned.

  • Monitor and evaluate programs and services.

  • Prepare administrative reports and executive summaries.

  • Meet annual income, training, and economic impact goals as outlined in sub-recipient agreement.

  • Participate in university-related committees, events, and activities where required.

  • Participate in community organizations that directly support or enhance the activities of the MMTC-NE.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General supervision is received from the Dean of the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Functional supervision is exercised over the sales and administrative staff of the MMTC-NE.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field of study; Master's Degree preferred.

  • Five or more years of sales experience with a strong understanding of LEAN manufacturing; familiarity with Quality Management Systems, Six Sigma, Strategic Planning, and Industry 4.0 technology.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in facilitation and problem-solving.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in economic development, program development, marketing, and sales.

  • Proven team player, organized, self-starter, attentive to detail and follow-through, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to build collaborative relationships and develop programs.

  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours.

  • Michigan driver's license required

  • Experience and ability to positively interact with a diverse campus community.

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Duties are generally performed inside but include outside seasonal activities. Some weeknights and weekends, including intermittent travel, will be required.
