Position Purpose:

A Registered Nurse who serves as a clinical and professional role model and consultant within the Medical/Surgical Department. Accepts 24 hour responsibility for the unit and is accountable for the nursing management of the Medical/Surgical unit to assure delivery of quality care for the well being of all critical care patients.

Maintains a positive clinical environment to promote cohesiveness within the unit, and the hospital organization. Actively participates in hospital committees. Demonstrates ethical and appropriate behavior for the clinical environment.

Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling the unit operations, personnel, and patient care. Will also provide direct patient care when indicated and function as House Supervisor when necessary. Demonstrates leadership style that supports and directs staff while fostering participative, autonomous and achievement oriented behavior.
