Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Director Medication Safety Quality Accreditation to our location in Portland, OR. This position also can sit in any of our other Providence state locations in WA, CA, AK, MT, NM, TX.
We are seeking a Director Medication Safety Quality Accreditation to provide strategic leadership and directs the development, evaluation, coordination, and implementation, of pharmacy medication safety services throughout PSJH. This position will be responsible for supporting the system pharmacy team and regional executive directors in the execution and implmentation of key system safety, quality and regulatory initiatives. This position will work closely with regional and ministry teams to achieve management objectives in service to our core strategy of "Creating Healthier Communities, Together." The successful candidate will be proficient in leadership, strategic thinking, obtaining results, decision making, medication safety and quality principles and regulatory standards.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide leadership and oversight for the identification, development, implementation and application of medication safety, quality, and regulatory compliance performance standards for all PJSH locations.
Coordinate and facilitate development and communication of initiatives directed by the Pharmacy Governance Council with the managers of all ministries in the PSJH system. Initiates, facilitates, leads, and participates in system initiatives to improve medication safety, quality, and regulatory compliance systems and related technology.
Partner with key PJSH stakeholders to improve medication safety, quality, and regulatory compliance or promote system standardization. Identifies and promotes the rapid adoption and assimilation of best practices to improve medication safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Tests and evaluates new systems and processes and facilitates the rapid adoption of best practices across PSJH.
Provide system leadership for regulatory requirements such as Joint Commission standards and ISMP Guidelines and Best Practices. As needed, chair committes to provide system direction and facilitation. (e.g., system Medication Safety Council) Function as the PSJH medication safety, quality, and regulatory compliance internal subject matter expert.
Review, develop, and gain Pharmacy Governance Council support for standardized measurement tools for medication safety, quality and regulatory compliance programs that can be used for local, regional or system reporting. Coordinates safety, quality, and regulatory compliance data collection, tracking, and reporting for PJSH. Oversee the analysis of high level trends of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance issues to identify actions, policies or process changes.
Remain current with new and evolving medication safety, quality and regulatory compliance best practices and effectively disseminate them throughout PSJH.
Coordinate and facilitate training, and other educational opportunities related to functions of system pharmacy work for pharmacy students, residents, and other health care professionals. May serve as preceptor for practice management and clinical residency programs, including PGY-2 pharmacy practice administration residency.
Demonstrate service excellence and positive interpersonal relations in dealing with others respectfully, including pateints, families, employees, managers, medical staff, volunteers, and community members, so that productivity and positive relations are maximized.
Travel may be required up to 30% of the time.
Demonstrate ability to utilize effective safety and quality and regulatory compliance information, in conjunction with excellent communication and presentation skills, financial management data, and analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to take self-initiative while also being able to partner with and influence with PSJH caregivers.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree Pharmacy.
10 years of pharmacy practice experience and 8 years in a medication safety/quality/regulatory compliance leadership position, preferably with progressive experience overseeing multiple locations.
Licensed Pharmacist upon hire.
