Job Description:

  • Directs the activities and oversees the development of policies and procedures for Materials Management. Recruits, selects, trains, assigns, and evaluates staff.

  • Identifies and implements long and short term goals and objectives that are consistent with hospital strategies.

  • Develops and administers departmental budgets and reviews monthly reports to ensure compliance and performance within budgetary constraints.

  • Builds relationships both internally and externally for the effective exchange of information, activity coordination, process improvement and problem resolution.

  • Represents Materials Management on various hospital committees as needed or assigned.

  • Efficiently manages the Materials department, ensuring PAR levels of supplies are maintained, the process of bidding and analysis of bids provides the most competitive pricing for supplies and equipment, and vendors providing supplies are responsive to requests and customer needs.

  • Oversees the hospitals participation in group purchasing programs.

  • Develops written specifications in response to capital equipment requests, prepares bid invitations, and officiates at bid openings. Reviews and evaluates competitive bids for compliance with written specifications.

  • Maintains accurate documentation in all aspects of department operations and provides recurring or ad hoc reports.

  • Conducts annual physical inventory and reconciles variances with automated inventory system.

  • Continually review cost effective measures of equipment, supplies and services.

  • Advises, negotiates and is a general resource to department management in reference to new equipment, supplies and services.

  • Complies with all applicable policies and procedures, including, but not limited to: all departmental and functional policies and procedures, state, federal and regulatory laws or requirements, organizational standards of excellence, and management of quality and safety within area of responsibility.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Level of Education

  • Minimum: BA
  • Preferred: MBA, MPA, MHA

Level of Experience

  • Minimum: 5 years management experience with 3 years Director level experience in purchasing, inventory control, distribution of supplies and management in a healthcare or related field.

  • Preferred: 10 years progressive management experience with 5 years Director level experience in purchasing, inventory control, distribution of supplies and management in a healthcare system.

Additionally, Management Trainees perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with Store Manager to develop sales, recruiting and leadership skills in order to become a Store Manager. The Management Trainee will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Management Trainee position is an advanced leadership position and therefore includes additional high level duties that are specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared. Sales Generation and Guest Service Greets Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, and is consistently prepared to provide legendary service to each Guest. Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating and educating new Teammates to meet and achieve Buckle's accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention and sales presentation standards on a daily basis. Visual Merchandise Management Develop skills and educate Teammates to implement, evaluate and create visual displays based on Buckle guidelines. Operations Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends, the day of/day after Thanksgiving and Christmas, all based upon store and business needs. Set goals and expectations to complete an extensive Management Trainee Program with weekly topics, assignments, and reviews. Establish relationships and excellent communication with Area Managers, District Manager and Corporate Office to assist Store Manager in effective operation of the store. Supervisory and Leadership Support Store Manager by planning and leading the Team, daily reviewing with Teammates and participation in Team meetings. Ability to travel and cover other Stores within District based on business needs. Objective Qualifications Must be able to relocate as required.
