The Director, Materials Management will oversee all material resource activities involved in the planning, receipt, distribution, cleaning, storing and managing the replenishment of the supplies and equipment needed to support patient care at MemorialCare's Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children's Hospital. The Director, Materials Management provides leadership and direction in establishing operational goals and objectives for the cost centers listed above, in support of MemorialCare and the medical center's strategic plan.

The incumbent directs and coordinates services within Material Resources and with other departments and continually assesses and improves the performance of the Material Resources departments under his/her direction. This position also oversees the mailroom and the outsourced linen services.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in healthcare or business related field. A minimum of 7-10 years experience in healthcare materials management facilitating the inventory planning, point of use material flow, and up-stream/down-stream supply chain management.

Additional certification in healthcare materials management and/or Lean preferred. Excellent technical, interpersonal, communication and consensus-building skills in an individual who can effectively partner and execute with staff and various departments.

Demonstrated service-orientation, with ability to balance needs of the location, organization, and team. Expertise with Title 22, CDPH and Joint Commission accreditation standards as they relate to materials management, department processes and work flows.

Valid drivers license required. Position Purpose: Under moderate supervision, responsible for a variety of activities within the dispatching functions in support of manufacturing. Responsible for multiple dispatching and material functions; track status of materials that feeds manufacturing; identify shortages, request replacements and track status of kits. Maintain accuracy of reports and data entry. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions: 1. Interpret route cards, material request forms, or MES to ensure accurate movement of materials. 2. Ensure proper request is placed for replacement material such as scrap, DMT or miscellaneous issues. 3. Maintain hardware areas to include identifying shortages. 4. Responsible for tracking kits and/or parts requested by departments to the schedule. Maintain kits per log; ensure request is placed within time limits. 5. Responsible for assigned equipment. 6. Work with others as a team on dispatching functions. 7. Complies with all company safety regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements: 1. Demonstrate experience in materials coordination. 2. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. 3. On feet most of shift and must be able to lift up to 50lbs. 4. Ability to operate company vehicles, forklift and/or gas/electric carts as required. 5. May be required. to work overtime, various shifts, and weekend coverage as required. by production schedule. 6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 7. Able to pass math and reading assessment. 8. Capable of working in an automated system. 9. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
