The Director of HAE Marketing, in collaboration with Sales, Healthcare Systems, Business Operations and Medical Affairs, insures that functional area strategies are aligned with the overall therapeutic HAE franchise strategy. This position will be accountable for overall sales, market share and management of HAEGARDA (C1 Esterase Inhibitor Subcutaneous, Human) and BERINERT (C1 Esterase Inhibitor, Human). The Director will be responsible for definition and implementation of marketing strategies for both products as well as the franchise. This role will also be responsible for development of new business opportunities within the franchise and ensures timely and effective implementation. The Director liaises with Medical Therapeutic Area Leaders and other key senior cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that customer needs are efficiently translated into effective initiatives. This position will also be responsible for the overall performance standards, objectives and development of their direct reports.
The Director must be able to work independently with minimum guidance from the Senior Director of Specialty Marketing while being able to influence senior management
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Establishes and gains approval for marketing plans and marketing activities associated with the assigned product(s) and actively solicits inputs from key stakeholders in medical affairs, sales, global commercial development etc.
Recommends and drives the alignment of resources and initiatives to achieve current and long-term product objectives.
Applies innovative and competitive strategies to the development of marketing plans.
Accountable for proactive management of marketing activities to assure compliance with internal Company and external requirements.
Responsible for the effective management and operation marketing activities within the approved budget. Responsible for generation of relevant budget and controlling. Accountable for strategic plan and production plan forecasting, including gaining stakeholder input on projections.
Independently directs all marketing and tactical management of the assigned product(s).
Prioritizes and manages work to ensure resources are focused on key initiatives.
Accountable for recommendations for brand life-cycle management and gaining alignment on these.
Works closely with Senior Director of Specialty Marketing to identify new product opportunities, accelerate the process of bringing packaging, administration, new products and line extension concepts to the U.S. market. Considers input from external partners and customers, aligns them with global commercial development business plans.
Builds effective working relationships with key external customers, including trade/channel partners, thought leaders and patient advocacy groups in order to positively position the company externally.
Develops and manages effective agency relationships in support of key initiatives. Manages vendors used for brand programs and projects and ensures alignment with therapeutic area business teams.
Has responsibility for oversight and effective management of all team members (i.e. direct reports) to include but not limited to the following:
Annual objective setting
Mid-year and end of year reviews
Coaching and counseling as appropriate
Recruitment, selection and development of talent
Managing, directing & measuring work on an ongoing basis. Provides
timely constructive feedback to ensure quality of work meets or exceeds
Assuring work is completed in a customer focused manner
Assures proper staff assignment and timely completion of appropriate
May manage staff
Approximately 25-30% travel, including some weekends.
BS/BA, MBA preferred.
Minimum of 12 years biotech and/or pharmaceuticals experience in sales, marketing or related experience that should include 5 or more years of product management experience at least 3 years of people management experience.
Experience within a similar/relevant therapeutic category or other rare/orphan condition is a plus. Experience launching new products or indications is highly desirable.
The successful candidate must have demonstrable success in leading project teams and implementing key initiatives.
Excellent analytic, oral and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills are required.
Candidate should also be knowledgeable in financial management systems and ad agency operations.
The position requires excellent organizational skills, collaboration, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
