Department Summary

The University of North Texas competes as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the American Athletic Conference. North Texas' athletic programs are classified as NCAA Division I, the largest and highest division among all colleges and universities.

The 46,000 square-foot Athletic Center located off South Bonnie Brae Street is the centerpiece of North Texas athletics. Athletics strives to conduct a competitive athletics program that promotes faculty, staff, student and community affiliation and participation with the North Texas Athletics. Provide facilities which attract the highest level of talent and allow student-athletes to perform at the highest level in practice and during competition.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for managing, creating and coordinating marketing and promotional campaigns for all of North Texas intercollegiate athletic programs that enhance the game day experience, increase attendance, and promote student involvement. Position also works closely with student and University organizations to create goodwill between the athletic department and its many constituents. Position works in the Denton community, as well as the entire D/FW Motorplex, to enhance season, single, and group ticket sales.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in in related field and three years' of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree Preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties:

  • Designs and implements effective sport or season specific marketing campaigns within limitations of available human and financial resources.

  • Designs and implements marketing strategies to cultivate, retain or attract fans or potential fans within the immediate and surrounding area.

  • Identifies and develops long term marketing plans and strategies to cultivate specific groups.

  • Researches, identifies and implements creative, cost-efficient means to enhance exposure.

  • Oversees and organizes the design and development of department publications including but not limited to posters, schedule cards, applications, billboards, advertising, fliers, brochures, banners, and displays.

  • Develops and maintains athletic related, student-oriented programs, which directly impact incoming and current student perceptions of the athletics department and the university.

  • Coordinates with key factions of the university community, alumni, bookstore, admissions, Pan Hellenic, RHA, SGA, and Letterwinners Association to maintain and foster support.

  • Works with licensing company and retailers to promote the sales of spirit items. Monitor the items that are being sold to make sure that they conform to university and athletic department standards. i.e., specific PMS codes, etc.

  • Works in conjunction with campus and department staff throughout the day today function of media, products, services or events. Design, implement and administer events for positive game day experiences.

  • Supervises graduate assistants and interns.

Work Schedule:

Monday thru Friday 8am-5pm. Some evenings and weekends.
