Position Overview:

The Director, Marketing Analytics Services role is a customer focused, brand embedded position. In this business-critical role, this person and their team will work in close partnership with in-brand planning and strategy teams to drive customer and campaign intelligence, campaign optimization and campaign evaluation through use of data mining and contemporary statistical modeling techniques. This role will also serve as a business liaison for analytic project management when engaging the broader Advanced Analytics CoE data sciences, BI, data management, and application development teams.

Key Responsibilities include:

Brand Lead:

  • Deliver customer-based insights from complex data analytics, data mining of unstructured data and modeling that deliver deep relevant customer insights to support business decisions.

  • Understand brand strategy and put customer analysis and insights around the strategy.

  • Identify the relevant customer learnings that are needed and develop the plan and analytics to solve.

  • Communicate complex analytical work in a clear and comprehensible manner both through presentation materials and personal communication skills to senior management

  • Ensure analytical solutions are actionable and clearly communicated to business partners within the organization.

  • Create and maintain project plans and schedules in order to manage and prioritize the analytical project queue.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of customer database, campaign execution, and campaign reporting solutions and enhancements supporting email, direct mail and loyalty programs.

CoE Leadership:

  • Serve as an internal advocate for the application of analytics and Advanced Analytics CoE best practices on strategic initiatives

  • Proactively work with business partners on problem identification and opportunities while balancing the needs of the business with the needs of the CoE.

  • Analyze and report on day to day business problems while identifying and acting on potential Enterprise wide analytical initiatives.

  • Direct data analysts to include interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, assignment delegation and follow through, performance review and disciplinary action.

  • Key contributor to building CoE strength for both brand embedded members and key partners within the Advanced Analytics CoE data sciences, BI, data, and application development teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science or similar field required. Graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, economics or related field strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 8-10 years' experience in strategy, planning, and operational execution for a customer analytics function

  • Hands on experience using SQL (*e.g. Oracle or MS SQL) and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, or SPSS)

  • Experience using BI tools to access and analyze data (e.g., MicroStrategy, Qlikview)

  • Defining and measuring customer value, customer behavior, and campaign performance

  • Building and implementing customer segmentation and predictive models

  • Planning and executing A/B (and ideally factorial) tests

  • Building and leading analytical teams

  • Experience in specialty retail strongly preferred

Skills:

  • Synthesize business opportunities into an analytical approach, ensure the approach solves the business opportunity, execute the approach, and then translate analytical solution into business insights and action plans

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills; ability to confidently and maturely support business decisions and lead others to support and achieve company goals and objectives

  • Communicate complex analyses through easy to understand formats

  • Build and manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders

  • Ability to think conceptually about issues and opportunities

  • Proven track record leading successful teams and projects. Demonstrated performance in managing large, matrix-managed programs across IT, Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, finance etc.,
