Modern, a ProMach brand company, is looking for a Director of Manufacturing to join their team in Deer Park, NY. In this role you will direct, administer, and coordinate the activities of the organization's, assembly and fabrication operations, and machine shop. This role serves as a general technical information resource regarding the construction and operation of the product. It supports the policies, goals, and objectives established by the company.

  • This position is located on-site at our Modern division in Deer Park, NY.

  • Oversee all aspects of manufacturing including production (machine shop), parts management, purchasing, shipping & receiving as well as facilities management.

  • Assess talent and build a strong team while developing new capabilities in the operations organization, especially in the fields of technical leadership, manufacturing flexibility and quality.

  • Champion 5S program for manufacturing

  • Develop and participate in the new product development process with internal resources.

  • Develop and implement best-in-class processes that support meeting all customer commitments, lowering cost, reducing changeover times, eliminating waste, creating a flexible asset base, and driving a continuous improvement culture.

  • Assess talent and build a strong team while developing new capabilities in the operations organization, especially in the fields of technical leadership, manufacturing flexibility and quality.

  • Partner with Supply Chain team to establish and drive working capital improvement programs, optimizing scheduling to minimize cost and inventory while ensuring flawless customer service.

  • Improve quality/uniformity and equipment reliability in an environment of highly complex, high speed manufacturing operations.

  • Establish and drive achievement of performance metric goals/objectives.

  • Analyze the needs and optimal use of capital resources as well as efficient deployment of such resources.

  • Continual review of manufacturing footprint for optimization of product delivery to the customer.

  • Set policy and be responsible for; manufacturing costs, quality and quantity of production, methods and tooling applications, customer relations as it relates to manufacturing, workflow planning, effective use of manufacturing hours, employee skills, safety, equipment, and facilities.

  • Participate and maintain manufacturing functions related to the Order Management Process (OMP).

  • Be the primary owner of strategic and tactical planning for the manufacturing roadmap within the organization; and the associated department structure to support these objectives.

  • Clearly and consistently communicate the product line vision to the manufacturing organization. Guide Manufacturing organization's efforts to achieve this vision.

  • Plan and balance production projects and new product development activities with the use of existing internal, and external manufacturing resources if applicable, to maintain project schedules.

  • Communicate manufacturing's needs to engineering (i.e., drawings, testing support, etc.)

  • Take part in the annual review process for all manufacturing staff.

  • Maintain a positive work environment within the manufacturing department and with other departments.

  • Be a great team player and contributor within the office; be tolerant and respectful of others.

  • Help resolve manufacturing issues as they arise by working closely with vendors, internal staff management and other ProMach business units.

  • Interface and act as a technical resource with other departments e.g., sales/marketing, engineering, human resources, accounting, etc., to coordinate manufacturing work/projects with production to ensure customer on-time delivery. Prepare and direct reports to other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems.

  • Be the lead technical advisor on product quality and cost control teams.

  • Track, report and uphold established company targets for manufacturing department key performance indicators in accordance with company standards and goals.

  • Participate in the development of annual manufacturing department goals and budget establishment.

  • Complete all administrative tasks/paperwork in timely manner. (i.e., timesheets and time off request)

  • 15+ years of relevant Manufacturing leadership experience preferably in a production/manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in leading all parts of manufacturing, assembly, quality, and shipping.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Manufacturing, Industrial Manufacturing or Automation Manufacturing.

  • Deep knowledge of contemporary tools, manufacturing processes, warehouse and shipping best practices, and supply chain information systems is a must.

  • A passion for safe workplaces and behavioral based safety practices is a must.

  • Exceptionally strong communication and influencing skills, drive, sense of urgency, and problem-solving abilities with the ability to teach/transfer the skills to their team will be critical for their success.

  • Hands on knowledge and use of lean production system models within in a medium to high volume fabrication and equipment assembly work environment.
