Director Lab - Porter - Full Time

Job Description

The Director of Laboratory is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, including the areas of Blood Bank, Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Phlebotomy and Histology at multiple locations throughout Northwest Health

• Porter. This position manages critical processes for patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The Laboratory Direction leads employees from multiple disciplines and must be skilling in interpersonal management and day to day operations.

Education:

• Graduate of accredited laboratory program; American Society for Clinical Pathology MT Certification (Medical Technologist) or equivalent; 5-6 years utilizing analytical and technical skills in medical technology or related science; continuing education in management and administrative methodologies. Preferred: 5-6 years hospital experience inclusive of supervisory and management experience; computer skills.

Certifications/Experience:

• Minimum of 5-6 years' experience inclusive of supervisory and management experience; computer skills. Patient Safety/Risk Management

• Understands the importance of patient safety and actively participates in safe practices. Identifies and reports actual events and potentially hazardous situations as outlined in hospital procedures. Uses safe practices to take action when necessary to protect the health and well being of patients, visitors and/or coworkers. Works collaboratively to find ways of safeguarding patients, visitors and/or coworkers. For positions with age specific competencies, must be able to identify and implement appropriate safety measures for all ages of patient services.

• Certification upon hire of within a year by a recognized certifying agency (i.e. ASCP or CLIA equivalent).
