Responsibilities

NBCUniversal is looking for a Director of IT Strategy & Operations to join our Analytics Center of Excellence (ACOE). Analytics is a strategic initiative across our Company with backing from all levels of executive leadership. The selected candidate will report directly to the VP, Analytics COE and is responsible for driving transformation and ensuring measurable business results. This is a highly-collaborative role responsible for ACOE strategy, budgeting, vendor/resource management, PMO, and organizational change management.

  • Partner with the VP, Analytics COE to manage critical strategic planning and operating mechanisms, ensuring the efficient deployment of IT resources supporting data and analytics across NBCUniversal's vast portfolio

  • Establish effective agile portfolio models and program management methodologies in environments with executive stakeholders, distributed development teams, and highly ambitious goals

  • Develop a strong sense of empathy with ACOE leadership to build a deep understanding and contextual business and technical knowledge to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization (users, partners, engineering, and executives)

  • Create budgets and manage pacing across multi-million-dollar portfolio, including compliance and timely creation of POs and remit of payments

  • Serve as critical member of ACOE leadership team, directing administrative, financial, and operational activities from strategy to successful deployments and portfolio rationalization

  • Build the ACOE 5-10-year roadmap, ensuring alignment of products, programs, projects, and successful delivery of features based on most critical business value

  • Define a common approach to demand identification, prioritization, funding, and operating mechanisms including but not limited to resource alignment and elimination of roadblocks

  • Determine measures for success and the best way to capture, roll up and communicate product, project, program and portfolio status across ACOE for IT and Operations & Technology executive reviews

  • Drive a new operating framework to align with business needs ensuring the successful deployment and pacing of discretionary funding

  • Identify synergies/efficiencies across verticals, projects and products leveraging a shared approach when applicable and reduce redundancy

  • Facilitate various meetings (event storming, lean, value stream, etc.)

  • Look beyond the ACOE department partnering with other technology groups in the enterprise to identify opportunities for alignment, rationalization, relationship strengthening and operational efficiencies

  • Be a mentor, bar raiser, change agent and change leader within an organization looking to transform and become a service excellence provider to the enterprise

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a project management, portfolio management, business operations, analytics strategy role within a global technology organization

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing large-scale, enterprise projects

  • Minimum 3 years managing project budgets

  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading a team

Desired Characteristics

  • Self-starter with meticulous attention to detail; metrics/data-driven

  • Experience within a technology organization in the media or entertainment industry highly preferred

  • Knowledge of or interest in IT, data, analytics experience is a plus

  • Experience focused in managing complex product roadmaps and development initiatives

  • Ability to build a compelling story with experience communicating concepts and ideas to technologists and users alike

  • Experience with agile/project management tools like Jira, Smartsheet, ServiceNow, Microsoft Project or similar tools

  • Expertise in PowerPoint and Excel

  • Ability to setup and manage a SharePoint site

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and manage multiple tracks of work

  • Adaptive and ability to learn quickly

  • Driving agile mindset and change management

  • Experience developing and managing a budget

  • Resource planning and vendor management experience

  • Experience working with and navigating a matrixed organization composed of technology horizontals and business focused verticals Stakeholder facilitation with business and technical executives

  • Design experience or interest in Graphic Design and/or Design Thinking

  • Bachelor's degree in technical or business-related field (Master's or similar experience preferred)

  • Experience in management consulting and/or MBA
