Responsibilities

As a trusted advisor within the HR Leadership team the Director, Internal Communications is an integral team member working cross functionally within HR and across various business leaders to create and execute high-profile communications across multiple channels. They develop and implement targeted strategies, messaging, programs, newsletters, and customized tools and channels supporting engagement and alignment to our mission and strategic and transformation priorities.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Project Management

  • Develop and implement a strategic internal communications plan that supports the company's strategic vision, goals, and objectives, while ensuring the plan is aligned with the vision of the offices of the CEO, Chief People Officer, and additional C-Suite leaders and Marketing.

  • Lead the development of strategic internal communication plans performing the successful execution of high-profile communications for HR leaders and teams, along with critical projects. This includes managing internal communications, as well as communications for leadership.

  • Think creatively to establish and maintain multiple channels for the distribution of internal messaging to reach a diverse 24/7 workforce, many of which are not often at a computer. Tactics may include email, newsletters, digital signage, intranet platform, social media platforms, apps, in person and virtual meetings, social media and other innovative communication and management tools.

  • Oversee the development and management of an internal employee communications portal, ensuring it is user-friendly, easy to navigate, and equipped with features that facilitate real-time connection and co-creation among employees. With co-creation, the ability to create and manage tools like surveys and polls across the organization relative to internal communication initiatives.

  • Partner with the CEO to communicate his vision, learning to communicate in this voice, providing talking points, drafting presentations and messages.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of marketing and communications KPIs, measurement, and reporting focused on business results.

  • Provide strategic counsel to various business stakeholders on aligning individual communications to the broader program- or enterprise-level strategy.

  • Lead in developing and implementing Corporate Communications process improvement initiatives.

  • Provide strategic counsel to executive level stakeholders, advising them on solutions for best practice change management and communications.

Steward Company Internal Events and Communication Strategy

  • Promote positive behaviors and fostering a robust sense of community through carefully coordinated and consistent messaging. This communication strategy aims to support InnovAge's business objectives and expansion priorities.

  • Accountable for communications plans, newsletters, leader messages, presentation decks/materials, Board of Director meeting communications, creative briefs, video scripts/production, p/vodcast scripts, graphic assets, speech writing, talking points, Q&A documents, survey data, briefings and additional materials as needed.

  • Leads the planning and execution of large-scale events, including monthly strategy/planning meetings, quarterly Town Halls, and other events and activities as required. This includes concept development, messaging, materials development, event logistics, and onsite support.

  • Build, implement, and manage a comprehensive internal communications strategy to increase employee engagement and build internal alignment and awareness across all employees in all areas, including but not limited to brand heritage, business strategy, organizational change initiatives, human resource programs, and social responsibility.

  • Key member in planning, building, and delivering executive-level content (slides, videos, event support) for monthly strategy/planning meetings and quarterly Town Halls.

  • Continuously and actively manage close, collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal partners, including Technology, Finance, M&A, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Participant Care, and other executives, as well as external partners such as production companies and communications partners.

  • Work collaboratively with the social media and media team to create social media activities when appropriate to build an engaged community of followers across the company.

  • Plan and ensure appropriate company/management participation in internal events.

  • Review employee/audience feedback to determine the effectiveness of communications material, recommending and driving changes as appropriate to improve delivery and understanding.

  • Use data, including communications metrics, market research, business plans, and operational and other market data, effectively to inform and develop communications strategy. Report performance data periodically to the communications team and senior leadership.

Writing

  • 25%
  • Write, edit, and finalize all aspects of employee communications materials.

  • Adjust communications methods and material to respond to changing market, customer, business, and employee conditions, needs, and expectations.

  • Deliver communications in an engaging and transparent manner that reflects the voice of our leadership team

  • Drive communications to align with a strategic vision for the organization, and seamlessly cascade across operating units and audiences in a way that makes teams feel connected and informed. This includes content, channel strategy, and cadence of content, across the system.

  • Determine the appropriate medium for intended audiences and messages.

  • Develop and executing impactful messaging and core materials to further leadership development, employee engagement, and human resource initiatives

REQUIRED

  • 10+ yrs corporate communications experience with varying scope and responsibility in a corporate setting

  • BA or BS in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or other applicable field.

  • Demonstrable skills in crafting strategic communications plans, which include conducting basic needs assessments, identifying and analyzing stakeholders and audiences, drafting strategies, action plans, tactics, and messages, overseeing resources, managing implementation, and measuring/analyzing results.

  • Proven ability to transform complex concepts into simple communications that a diverse audience can quickly grasp

  • Exceptional written and oral communication, presentation development, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Proven track record for strategic communications program visioning, planning, execution, and measurement.

  • Able to define success criteria and identify project risks, opportunities, and core stakeholders.

  • Ability to navigate a matrixed organizational structure and make strategic connections across internal and external communications to drive success, including the proven ability to manage third-party resources where applicable and needed

  • Strong influencer capability; demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to drive consensus and alignment.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a focused listener able to work quickly, thoughtfully, and collaboratively with various stakeholders.

  • Knowledgeable of graphic design and how the design process works to support collateral and other materials development.

  • Knowledgeable of video production and how the production process works to support video development from conception to scripting to editing and posting.

  • Confidence in setting up and supporting internal national events (town halls, fireside chats, Q&A panels, and others)

PREFERRED

  • Fortune 500 and/or Agency background

  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher); proficiency in Adobe Creative
