The Director, Interior Engineering is will have the responsibility to develop and lead the all the advance projects in the area of Interior systems. He/She will have ownership to manage the conceptualization, design, development, testing and validation as well as all release activities for vehicle interior systems, components and assemblies for cockpit (IP, console, door trims), seating and restraint systems and interior trim (carpets, headliner, parcel shelf, pillars, trunk trim as well as interior lighting).

The individual will develop cost & weight & functional efficient as well as innovative and advanced engineering concepts and system designs - continuing these through all release phases including production launch.

The leader will report to the VP, Vehicle Engineering.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Delivering all Interior Engineering targets for cockpit, seating, restraints & interior trim

  • Applying best-industry practices to create premium brand interiors

  • Building and leading Interior Engineering organization

  • Experience in selecting, managing suppliers for interior components and systems

  • Very good understanding of industry such as competitors, supplier landscape and engineering service partners

  • Leading hiring activities of all interior engineering personnel

  • working in seamless alignment with other D&R functions, VI, Safety, Interior Design and other core departments as well as system/parts suppliers and engineering partners

  • Previous concept development, production engineering, launch

  • Previous planning and program management experience

  • Presenting to investors and executive/senior management frequently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering specialized in mechanisms, materials, forming technologies for/and non-metal materials

  • Min. 15 years of Interior Engineering related responsibilities

  • 10+ years of experience leading Interior Engineering team

  • Awareness of automotive startup environment and the unique/inherent opportunities

  • Positive attitude and constructive approach while interfacing with peers, suppliers

  • Proven success in high-pace environment where adaptiveness and flexibility is required
