About the Role:

In this groundbreaking role, as Innovation Center Director, you'll lead a team of passionate innovators in exploring and prototyping the next generation of hybrid event solutions. You'll translate those innovations into intuitive and engaging experiences using the Zoom Events platform, ensuring both virtual and in-person audiences are captivated and connected. You'll also help Maximus design and develop its next generation innovation center space in collaboration with our marketing, operations, AV, and space planning teams.

Must reside in the DC, Virginia, or Maryland area to comfortably come into the Tysons Corner office in VA. This is a hybrid model role which requires in office time per manager's expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Maximus Innovation Center, fostering a culture of creativity, experimentation, and rapid prototyping. Manage the coordination of the department's activities with responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing.

  • Identify emerging trends in hybrid events, virtual reality, and event technology, and translate them into actionable opportunities for the Zoom Events platform.

  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for our innovation center (virtual and physical), prioritizing projects that deliver tangible value to users and the business.

  • Coordinate a team of talented designers, operators, and engineers, providing guidance and mentorship to bring innovative experiences to life.

  • Oversee the design and development of the Zoom Events platform user interface (UI) and user experience (UX), ensuring seamless integration of new features and functionalities.

  • Manage the entire event lifecycle for Innovation Center events, showcasing the latest technology and inspiring users.

  • Deliver compelling presentations and demos to internal and external stakeholders, communicating the value of the Maximus Innovation Center and its future direction.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to define event objectives, themes, and content, and to promote and market the event to the target audience.

  • Provide live support during events, including moderating Q&A sessions, managing breakout rooms, and assisting with any technical difficulties or troubleshooting.

  • Oversee post-event activities, including conducting event analytics to measure success. Continuously monitor and analyze event data, including attendee registration, engagement, and feedback, to inform future event planning and improvements.

  • Manage the entire event lifecycle for Innovation Center events, showcasing the latest technology and inspiring users.

  • Deliver compelling presentations and demos to internal and external stakeholders, communicating the value of the Maximus Innovation Center and its future direction.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, marketing, sales) to ensure alignment between innovation, platform development, and business goals.

  • Plan and coordinate virtual and hybrid events, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for attendees.

  • Design and customize branded event hubs to showcase event details, hosts, and agendas.

  • Build and manage multi-session, multi-track, and multi-day events using Zoom's webinar and meeting features.

  • Coordinate and manage registration and ticketing options, including customizable forms for both free and paid events, whether public or private.

  • Facilitate attendee networking and interaction by managing a chat-enabled event lobby with live video streaming, both inside and outside of sessions.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to define event objectives, themes, and content, and to promote and market the event to the target audience.

  • Provide live support during events, including moderating Q&A sessions, managing breakout rooms, and assisting with any technical difficulties or troubleshooting.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in managing and producing complex events, preferably with a focus on hybrid or virtual formats.

  • Proven track record of success in leading and managing innovation teams, driving impactful ideas from concept to market.

  • Deep understanding of the hybrid event landscape, user experience design principles, and future technologies like VR and AR.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.

  • Experience working with agile development methodologies and managing diverse projects simultaneously.

  • Passion for user experience and a keen eye for design that translates into engaging and intuitive event experiences.

  • Zoom Platform Proficiency: Expertise in using the Zoom Events platform, including setting up and configuring webinars and meetings, managing breakout rooms, and using interactive features such as polls and Q&A.

  • Audiovisual (AV) Technology: Knowledge of AV equipment and technology, including microphones, cameras, and lighting, to ensure high-quality audio and video during virtual events.

  • Strong technical proficiency with Zoom Events and familiarity with other virtual event tools and technologies.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in real-time during live events.

  • Knowledge of best practices for virtual event design, attendee engagement, accessibility, and inclusivity.

  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, solve challenges, and take initiative.

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality virtual experiences that meet the needs and expectations of clients and attendees.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with digital marketing and promotion strategies for virtual events, including social media, email campaigns, and online advertising.

  • Background in event production technology and hardware.

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
