Mercy College is inviting applicants to apply for the position of Director of Human Resources.

The Director of Human Resources will be responsible for the following:

  • Directing the overall operations of functional areas of human resource management including, but not limited to high quality talent recruitment and acquisition, job analysis and staff deployment, retention, and performance management.

  • Researching and proposing for implementation when appropriate, best practices on HR management, including compensation and benefits programs, merit and employee satisfaction programs.

  • Performing job analyses and ensure job descriptions contain up to date and accurate core responsibilities. S/he will tie employee performance to evaluations, and ensure timely completion by managers/supervisors.

  • Developing and implementing an organization-wide policy and procedure for human resource communication and information management.

  • Demonstrating a high level of personal and professional integrity in all dealings with staff, the College Community and external contacts. S/he will ensure that all communications are timely, current and accurate.

  • Collaborating with General Counsel to work with the Collective Bargaining Unit in terms of adhering to the CBA and assisting managers with staff issues and to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local equal employment and fair labor practice laws and statutes.

  • Implementing employee notifications and ensure managers are informed.

  • Taking a lead role in developing the College's Affirmative Action Plan. Ensure that recruiting strategies and tactics support the Affirmative Action Plan goals.

  • Consulting with management and executive staff on the development and implementation of organizational succession planning.

  • Ensuring the effectiveness, security and integrity of all human resource management data systems, both electronic and hard copy.

  • Partnering with the Mercy College IT Department (and relevant vendors) to develop a high performance human resource function.

Qualifications * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, plus 4+ years experience in Human Resources or a related field. * Experience in compensation required. * Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation preferred. * Good human relations, consulting, analytical, problem solving, decision-making, communication, negotiation, persuasion, and project management skills required. * Must be a self-starter and be able to work with people at all levels.
