The Human Resources Director serves on the senior leadership team and has responsibility to deliver HR services throughout the organization. Develop and implement HR processes for LCMC, such as organizational development and training, employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, employee safety and health, etc. Provides day to day oversight of the HR department. Serves as a business partner to all assigned departments and providing direct support across all HR functional areas. Establishes and maintains working relationships with all levels of organization's management and staff, works with the management to address HR matters and to analyze and forecast trends.

Your Everyday

Employee and Labor Relations:

  • Provides comprehensive advice on complex employer relations issues including FMLA, ADA, sexual and workplace harassment, violence, RIFs, policy development and interpretation, crisis situations and the development of severance agreements.

  • Counsels managers and provides advise on employee relations issues, advises on the corrective action process and recommends a course of action necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship that is consistent with LCMC Health's practice, policies and procedures.

  • Oversees grievance process and ensures that all decisions are implemented.

  • Provides confidential assessment of a department's climate to determine relevant issues in response to management and HR concerns or employee complaints.

  • Interprets contract language, assists HR professionals and managers in dealing with labor issues such as discipline, employee issues, job descriptions, reduction in workforce and changes in working conditions.

Staffing:

  • Partners with HR staffing specialists and hiring managers to develop recruitment and marketing strategies for assigned areas.

  • Collaborates with managers on hiring decisions and negotiations.

  • Maintains understanding of workforce trends as related to areas of responsibility (i.e., recruitment/retention issues, market, equity issues, securing central support, etc.).

Organization Development and Training:

  • Partners with HR training resources and teams as appropriate to create, facilitate and conduct specialized trainings and presentations as needed.

  • Works with OD consultants to conduct analyses and interventions within groups as needed.

  • Works with management to set diversity, community relations goals and objectives.

Compensation:

  • Provides day-to-day assistance to departments with the interpretation of compensation policies, procedures and processes.

  • Provides compensation analysis and consultation to managers on the development of job descriptions, job analysis and evaluation process, grading of positions, market/equity reviews, compensation offers and market contingency process.

  • Completes job evaluation/grading, when appropriate, securing assistance from central compensation as needed.

  • Strategizes/develops processes in collaboration with management to manage department organizational change and job design.

  • Advocates for allocation of market contingency funding based upon market research and data collection to support the strategic projections.

Benefits:

  • Assists the organization's management and employees with benefit inquiries or problem resolution and refers employees to appropriate teams/staff as required.

  • Provides employees and managers with interpretations of HR policies, procedures, programs and laws, assuring compliance with federal and state mandated programs (i.e., FMLA, COBRA, etc.).

Employee Assistance Program:

  • Maintains awareness of the roles and benefits of EAP involvement and coordinates services with EAP professionals, as appropriate.

  • Assists employees and managers with the development of plans to address problems with performance, based upon knowledge, sensitivity to a variety of cultural and mental health issues.

Occupational Health & Worker's Compensation:

  • Responsible for coordinating services with the occupational health and workers compensation team when appropriate.

  • Responds to and involves employee health with fitness for duty and FMLA issues.

  • Coordinates with employee health/other departments as required on the on-boarding of new hires, volunteers and persons of interest.

HRIS:

  • Maintains a working knowledge of HRIS software.

  • Demonstrates an ability to run reports and queries for various data analysis such as salary/benchmark review, turnover or license reviews.

  • Enters transactions and approves the transactions of managers.

The Must-Haves

Minimum:

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

7+ years of progressive experience in Human Resource management or Generalist position

5 years of Supervisory experience

Preferred:

2 years of recent hospital Human Resources experience with close interaction with Finance and Information Services departments

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Management or equivalent required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proven experience in a variety of HR functional areas.

Current knowledge of state, federal employment and labor laws.

Strong verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyze information and apply critical thinking in order to make decisions and resolve problems.

Ability to interpret policy and work with management and staff to properly interpret and enforce policies.

Integrates the mission and vision of the organization.

Identifies and defines problems, implements creative solutions and evaluates results.

Ability to handle multiple demands and conflicting priorities.

Ability to provide "real time" problem solving.
