Director Human Capital Strategy and Innovation

The Leader of Human Capital Strategy and Innovation will shape and execute strategies using data analytics to support leaders in the DaVita Medical Group (DMG) and OptumCare Human Capital Teams. This teammate will report directly to the Head of Human Capital of OptumCare who also has a dual role as Chief People Officer of DaVita Medical Group. This Leader will take on many responsibilities of a chief of staff such as preparing important communications, managing budgets and ensuring Human Capital functions smoothly for DMG and OptumCare. Projects range from measuring human resources performance against business needs to reporting monthly results. This teammate is a disruptive thinker who is in touch with trends in the external marketplace, is comfortable researching and presenting data to help senior leaders make decisions, can facilitate leadership team meetings, and effectively communicate human resources strategies to the broader organization. This teammate will manage a team and must be skilled at coaching and developing others. This leader will excel at working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment to translate strategy into sustainable operating practices.

  • Overall: Thought & Process Leader for assigned strategic projects

o Plan the work, manage the project, drive analyses, and communicate the answers through a compelling storyline

o Focus on the solution vs. issues

  • Business Analysis / Problem Solving - ability to lead or do the analysis

o Measure HR performance against business needs

o Deliver evidenced based insights and impact

  • Conduct experimental studies/pilots

  • Infuse industrial/organizational psychology and organization behavior research into projects.

  • Insist on data-driven decisions

o Own key workstreams

  • Synthesis & Communication Prepare preparations

o Summarize insights from analysis, identify next steps and communicate implementation plan

o Communicate findings in PowerPoint presentations

o Present material in one-on-ones and team meetings

  • Project Management

o Manage strategic investments

o Manage departmental budget including forecasting, reporting and resource allocation

o Plan and execute projects

o Prioritize project portfolio

o Drive change management

  • Teamwork Contribute seamlessly as a member of a team with people from a variety of functional areas and experience.

  • Team Support Provide miscellaneous support to the team especially during preparation for key milestones and meetings

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years as a Director of Strategy, Chief of Staff, Project Leader, or similar role supporting C-Level leadership and enterprise-level initiatives.

  • Experience with the following:

o Design, implement, & administer operating strategies, operating models, governance models, and service delivery models

o Continuously seek to improve processes & initiatives

o Develop ideation & innovation processes

o Administer budget

  • Experience in Human Resource helpful but not required

  • Demonstrated track record in the following:

o Attention to detail (follow up and follow through are a MUST in this role)

o Ability to influence others and gain buy-in to achieve objectives

o Resourcefulnesscan create effective solutions despite time and/or resource constraints

o Research and milestone planning skills

o Integrity; must be highly trustworthy and able to keep documents and information confidential

o Can easily pivot between independently and collaborative work

o Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

o Independent Judgment and decision-making ability--must know when and how to "push-back" on decisions and how to make tough calls

o Flexibility & openness to frequent schedule and priority changes

o Self-motivated and accountable for meeting commitments and deadlines
