Gordon Brothers is a global organization with a new opportunity for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our HR team in Boston. The position reports directly to our Global Chief Human Resources Officer and provides direct HR support to assigned business units, as well as, contributing to a team that is driving transformation throughout the global organization. The position is based in the Prudential Tower in the heart of the Back Bay. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop a solid understanding of the business and work closely with managers to implement innovative solutions that drive performance while creating an engaging environment.

  • Provide direct and proactive HR support to managers in all aspects of talent management, performance management, employee relations, total rewards and program management.

  • Lead and implement key programs/changes focused on building an enduring organization positioned for growth. These programs may include: mentoring; learning and development; total rewards; employment branding; and HR platforms and systems.

  • Seek feedback, both formally and informally, during and after change initiatives or introduction of new programs.

  • Drive talent acquisition ensuring the organization is attracting and hiring the best talent. Implement creative and cost effective methods for sourcing quality candidates and recommending ways to promote and enhance our employment brand and value proposition to attract a broad pool of quality applicants. Acquire and leverage market and internal data to develop appropriate and compelling offers. Develop and maintain an active network of sourcing resources including professional networking, agencies, social networking, technology, etc.

  • Administer the performance management program including encouraging coaching, ongoing feedback, identifying firm-wide goals, launching individual goal setting, regular performance reviews, etc.

  • Work closely with managers to evaluate current staff, identify high potential employees, create succession plans, and generate workforce plans that enable the strategy of the business.

  • Bring a global viewpoint to all programs and systems.

  • Partner with managers to proactively address and resolve employee relations issues. Provide coaching to managers on conduct and performance issues and guide them through the discipline and performance improvement process.


  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources or other relevant course of study. Master's degree and relevant HR certifications preferred (e.g., SHRM SCP).

  • Ten or more years of relevant and progressively responsible experience in financial services, management consulting or professional services, ideally including some program management.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, deal-making environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong ability and desire to influence outcomes.

  • Demonstrated skill in building constructive relationships with people at all levels in the organization. Not afraid of conflict. Handles conflict diplomatically.

  • Curious learners. Always pushing self to broaden perspective and learn from others.

  • Pays relentless attention to details. Cares about executing work at the highest level.

  • Passionate about being an HR professional. Knows how HR enables business growth.

  • Makes excellent decisions after considering facts and circumstances. Looks toward the broadest possible view of an issue or challenge. Thinks and talks in global terms. Strong ability to take in information from different sources and determine a best course of action. Demonstrates excellent judgement.

  • Strong knowledge of global, federal and state laws and regulations related to employment practices.

  • Ability to travel as needed (approximately 25%).
