POSITION SUMMARY The Health Information Management (HIM) Director is responsible for coordinating health information management services across the integrated health system to include operational management as well as administrative and fiscal matters pertaining to HIM.# JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training Bachelor#s Degree in Health Information Management, or equivalent level of education and experience, required; Master#s Degree in health information management or a related field, preferred.

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) RHIA#required within one year of employment; RHIT preferred. Knowledge, Skill and Ability Thorough understanding of the needs related to comprehensive inpatient and outpatient clinical documentation standards with knowledge of electronic health record applications.# Maintain a high level of understanding of HIPAA, Joint Commission, state and federal regulations and guidelines, hospital policies and procedures, and AHIMA best practice methods regarding maintenance of health records and health information.# Basic understanding of system architecture, infrastructure, integration, and databases. Demonstrates leadership skills and exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies when selecting methods and techniques in problem solving.

The position supervises the division managers of four BCPH divisions, including Communicable Disease and Emergency Management (CDEM), Community Health, Environmental Health, and Family Health. The position works in close collaboration with the BCPH MT to set organizational priorities; manage departmental workload; champion equity; ensure a positive and productive culture at BCPH and ensuring that services align with its vision, mission, core services, and strategic priorities. A significant part of this position is assuring that the department is advancing its core services and priorities. The position also represents BCPH to designated governing, funding, regulatory, human services, and other community collaborative agencies and organizations. The position works involves navigating complex business processes and a collaborative approach to support existing and new public health programming. The position is responsible for a variety of professional and administrative work in planning, coordinating, directing, assessing, and evaluating the programmatic functions of the department, business process improvement, and capacity building.
