Health care is increasingly being driven at the community level and consumers are becoming more empowered to manage their care - resulting in the need for a comprehensive communications and engagement approach for these critical stakeholders. This position will lead our enterprise communication and engagement strategy for consumers and communities on behalf of Global Communications team. The ideal candidate for this role will serve as the above brand, enterprise-wide subject matter expert on these audience segments and will be able to work effectively across all divisions and functions within the company to drive forward a comprehensive reputation-first communications approach.

The position requires a candidate that has extensive experience developing and driving forward communications strategies to effectively engage consumers and communities within the health care ecosystem. The candidate for this role will need to be knowledgeable about the trends shaping public health within the U.S. and globally including the importance of social determinants of health. This position will require working knowledge of how to leverage data and insights to build a deep understanding of the unique communication patterns of each stakeholder segment including information needs, preferred communication channels, and tailored messaging.

Key Functions:

  • Develops enterprise and segment-specific communication strategies for consumers with a focus on health prevention including supporting our vaccine confidence and resiliency communication efforts

  • Drives community-based communication strategies to address health inequities in alignment with our company's business priorities and Diversity & Inclusion strategy

  • Creates communication strategies to further elevate our leadership in Health Literacy and support measurable adoption of health literate principles within the company's consumer and patient-facing materials

  • Drives insights generation for above-brand efforts with consumer and community segments

  • Serves as an external thought leader on engagement trends and best practices related to these stakeholders

  • Engages and builds trusting relationships with external stakeholder groups including civic, patient and social organizations

  • Aligns proactive strategic communications plans with the corporate owned, earned and paid media plans

  • Manages time-sensitive consumer and community issues

  • Supports direct report(s) and manages outside agencies

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Health preferred

  • Eight years' experience in Communications, Marketing or Public Health; five+ years in management role

  • Experience managing large scale consumer and community programs with third party partners

  • Ability to navigate a complex matrixed organization, think creatively, and develop solutions

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills across a variety of mediums/channels (e.g., print, digital, presentation) and knowledge of digital tools and platforms

  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills with strong ability to develop new, innovative ways to drive communications in a rapidly changing environment

  • Maintains direction and focus through proactive, integrated planning; takes an organized, data-driven approach

  • Leadership to appropriately guide, mentor and develop team members

  • Must be collaborative, proactive, curious with a learning mindset and bias to outside-in

The Director, Public Health Partnerships, position is part of a broader strategic evolution for Public Health Partnerships that is responsive to both the public health environment and our Company's Vaccines' business drivers. Within the vaccines eco-system, there is an increasing focus in many countries on value and affordability, new technologies to improve vaccines delivery, coverage and equity, expanding geographies and target populations and re-imagining immunization programs in light of COVID-19, which will require different approaches and innovative models of engagement. For our Company to effectively embark on this journey, Public Health Partnerships needs to expand its capacity to build and maintain strong partnerships with multilateral organizations and other stakeholders. These partnerships will help scale our public health contribution, mitigate barriers to successful immunization programs, and inform appropriate global guidelines that support these programs. Primary Role - The primary role includes: 1. Lead Public Health Partnerships strategic engagement with select multilateral and global health organizations 2. Identify and establish creative partnerships with these organizations to increase sustainable access to vaccines, including our Company's vaccines 3. Lead development of Public Health Partnerships strategic plans for select pipeline vaccines 4. Represent Public Health Partnership on internal cross-functional product teams Key Functions: * Leadthe development and execution of our Company's Vaccines strategic engagement plans for select regional offices of key global public health organizations - e.g., WHO Regional Offices (SEARO, EURO and WPRO), Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Jhpiego involved in vaccines delivery and innovations in vaccines delivery. * Identify, execute and manage creative partnerships to address challenges in vaccines delivery systems, including innovative technologies and approaches, with the aim to facilitate uptake and expand coverage of vaccines. Ideally, efforts will leverage existing global public health initiatives - e.g., the WHO cervical cancer elimination call to action, the Immunization Agenda 2030, life course immunization, aging populations agenda, supply chain initiatives and align with priorities of assigned WHO regional offices. In collaboration with other technical experts at our Company, the individual will lead assigned partnerships that are in the process of being finalized - e.g., International Federation of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers' (IFPW) Foundation on Gavi supply chain improvement initiatives, including education & training, supply chain optimization networks and innovations in vaccine delivery systems. * Lead development of Public Health Partnerships strategic engagement plans with key global health organizations on select pipeline vaccines against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Cytomegalovirus (CMV). In collaboration with the Public Health Partnerships Director liaison to WHO, the individual will support execution of such plans. * Internal stakeholder alignment - Represent Public Health Partnerships on relevant internal teams at our Company: Early Commercialization Teams / Global Commercialization Teams of assigned vaccines (e.g., RSV and CMV) and specialized teams - e.g., Vaccine Confidence, COVID-19 Implications Task Force. * Collaborate with our Company's relevant regional (Europe, Asia Pacific) and country teams to support key regional and select country public health stakeholder engagement and initiatives. * Lead the development and dissemination of communication resources for Public Health Partnerships initiatives. Works in close collaboration with our Company's Communications team and relevant cross-functional teams to achieve this.
