The OBU Strategy Team sits at the heart of all key investment decisions and are responsible for ensuring that the decisions we make with our pipeline assets best position us for maximum return on investment and positive patient outcomes.
We have an exciting opportunity working within the Strategy Team of the Oncology Business Unit (OBU) as a Competitive Intelligence Director.
This is a high impact role that requires you to shape strategy and influence critical investment decisions by delivering industry-leading analysis and insights to Senior Leadership and other key stakeholders to ensure a full understanding of the rapidly evolving oncology landscape.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Leads the delivery of industry-leading competitive analysis and insight for a lead asset, using deep knowledge of the therapy area and external resources to shape future-proofed TA strategies and deliver sustainably differentiated brands
Member of the OBU Strategy team and Global Product Team helping lead the development of an independent view on key development decisions and brand performance
Responsible for being close to the Global Product Teams to allow you to interpret, pressure test external and challenge their critical thinking and assumptions
Inputs into the TA Strategy development by bringing robust analysis to all aspects of the science, disease area strategy, development, regulatory and commercial plans
Responsible for proactively flagging key trigger events in the competitive landscape and driving work on implications for AZ/Medi
Responsible for developing a deep therapy area knowledge bridging from science through to commercialization and covering the research, regulatory, payer and commercial community in the TA
Responsible for personal ongoing professional education in competitive intelligence sources / vendors and building an ongoing network internally and externally to ensure the best intelligence is always utilized
Bachelors' degree in life sciences, biological or social sciences
Excellent analytical skills including critical thinking and fact-based decision-making
Extensive multi-disciplinary work experience in or with, as a consultant, the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry (e.g. R&D, marketing, market research, strategic planning, business development, finance, etc.)
Excellent Leadership skills including cross-functional leadership, project management and influencing without authority at a senior level
Strong interpersonal skills ability to succinctly communicate complex issues simply
Relevant Drug Development and/or Commercialization experience within the pharmaceutical/medical industry
