The Director will be a key member of the global multiple sclerosis (MS) franchise team. They will have an extraordinary opportunity within Biogen's leading MS franchise, translating market insights into strategies and tactics to support above brand efforts.
This individual will be part of a small but highly functioning team of product development and commercial professionals who are tasked with developing the global franchise strategy and global tactics.
The Director will collaborate with regional and affiliate teams and numerous global cross-functional partners (Medical Affairs, Market Access, Market Research, R&D, Manufacturing, Finance/ Business Analytics, Healthcare Solutions and Legal) to ensure integrated marketing strategy development and seamless market execution. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President, Product Development and Commercialization.
Primary areas of responsibility include:
Support development of franchise Integrated Customer Plan (ICP) and lead the development of global projects/tactical planning
Lead the global disease monitoring strategy and global implementation of digital tools
Lead the advertising agency in the evolution of the core portfolio and disease education marketing deliverables, both branded and unbranded, including branding, messaging and creative concept. The work will likely include design and execution of market research as well thought leader or community engagement. The work will also include supporting other team members in the execution of marketing tactics
Collaborate with global medical and value & access colleagues on the development of a product value story that provides a vision for the product over the long-term, guiding all communications and publications
Act as the single point of contact for franchise initiatives across global marketing teams
Lead Franchise Brand Activation Team (BAT) meetings and ensure strong alignment and communication with affiliates to translate strategy to execution
Lead the global cross-functional Communications Team, informing all communications (e.g., congresses, press releases, rapid response, etc.) in line with the product value story
Partner with global medical and publications planning to ensure strategic and tactical alignment
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with global medical and value & access, regional and affiliate marketers worldwide, and other key members of the asset team
Own franchise budget and interface with global marketing team to track expenses and prepare forecasts
The successful candidate will be an experienced individual with a strong track record of commercial and marketing success in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry. They will be a proven marketer with strong strategic thinking, market analysis, and marketing execution skills.
They will be a self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment, who is able to effectively balance multiple priorities and is always willing to pitch in to help the team achieve results. They will be a skilled collaborator, able to drive decision-making and accountability in a cross-functional environment through strong influence and leadership skills. They will possess solid communication skills, including the ability to interface across geographies and functions within Biogen as well as with customers. They will have deep experience managing advertising agencies, consulting companies, and other vendors.

12+ years of sales and marketing experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
Global and/or Affiliate brand marketing experience required
Unbranded or franchise experience preferred
Anticipated travel: 10-20% international
Bachelor's Degree Required
