Director of Global Logistics Ops Excellence, SPS Integrated Supply Chain

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible to lead global team of project management and logistics specialists to redesign and improve our logistics processes for the Safety and Productivity Solutions (SPS) organization. Must deliver significant improvements in our Logistics KPI performance using Six Sigma, Lean, and other process redesign / improvement methodologies. All internal processes and external 3PL partner processes supporting SPS are within scope for this redesign / improvement work, including global distribution/warehousing processes, transportation processes, 3PL partner processes etc. KPIs include Safety, Quality, On-time Pickup, On-Time Delivery, Cost, Cycle Times, Inventory Accuracy, and Regulatory Compliance. Applicants must have strong experience in Project/Program Management, demonstrated Change Management success, Six Sigma, Lean, and strong understanding of Logistics and Supply Chain Management processes. This position reports to the Vice President, Global Logistics, SPS Integrated Supply Chain.

Role accountabilities include:

Recruit and develop exceptional project management and logistics specialists as a talent pipeline for succession planning to promotional opportunities within Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Build and maintain a robust hopper of high impact Logistics process improvement opportunities.

Prioritize highest impact projects with SPS Global Logistics leadership and appropriate cross-functional leaders from supporting organizations.

Build capable cross-functional teams with the right leadership sponsors to implement these process redesign and improvement opportunities quickly and effectively, with robust training and control plans to ensure long-term sustainability.

Benchmark, select, and implement competitive distribution and transportation strategies that supports best-in-class performance to achieve SPS strategic and annual operating targets.

Continuously improve procedures, processes and systems/technology capabilities.

Champion change by supporting business transitions and repositioning initiatives.

Develop standard, easily executed processes to consolidate and optimize transportation mode usage to reduce costs and improve service.

Analyze and improve network design determine the optimal number, size and location(s) of facilities such as distribution centers, cross docks, etc.

Champion projects to be executed at 3PLs & DCs such as process optimization and new technology introduction.

Leverage our Transportation Management Systems and Warehouse Management Systems to drive improvements through simplification and automation of processes.

Improve analytics and reporting of our key logistics process and performance metrics.

Effective risk management and project management.

Build strong relationships with warehousing and transportation 3PL partners and internal cross functional groups; sharing information and implementing best practices.

Ensure strong collaboration with key stakeholders including functional and site leaders globally as appropriate.

Job Activities
40 Identify, prioritize, and implement the highest impact initiatives to deliver our Logistics performance objectives.
30 Drive team excellence, talent retention, and succession planning.
30 Redesign/improve our logistics processes and technology to delivery our SPS business strategy and objectives.

Flexibility to travel 40-50%, domestic and international.

Initially this role will be based in Fort Mill, SC with the potential to move to the Greater Charlotte area in the near future.

  • Master's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics or other Business Function,
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Project/ Program/ Change Management, Six Sigma, and Lean methodologies within a company of similar complexity.


  • Experience leading remote teams.

  • Experience working in large, matrixed organizations.

  • Broad and deep understanding of Logistics operational and financial drivers.

  • Passion for Customers, service and operational excellence.

  • Language skills.
