The Director, Global Logistics will direct, implement, and manage a global logistics strategy related to Warehousing, Transportation and Trade. This is a highly cross-functional and collaborative role with significant interaction with Customers, Service, Planning, Procurement, IT, Plant Operations, Vendors, Product Development and Strategic 3PL Partners. The role requires strong focus on achieving service and cost related goals and better than market transportation pricing and is responsible for the delivering transportation management strategies and business processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of the Global Logistics
Responsible for the Global import/export functions, including trade and security regulatory compliance associated to logistics
Set strategic direction and plan, direct and control the purchase and administration of all Domestic inbound transportation services, all international transportation services and all Domestic Outbound transportation services.
Effectively integrate the flow of goods and information to optimize expense and service objectives and take ownership for reporting tactical performance and goals.
Ensure transportation compliance with Customs authorities and other global government entities, including C-TPAT, FDA, CPSC, etc.
Provides strategic direction and leadership for the Logistics groups.
Provides significant influence on short and long-term business goals. Communicates logistics strategy effectively to all departments to achieve timelines.
Guide the development of Vendor and 3PL KPI's associated with Supply Chain performance and conduct internal Quarterly Business Reviews to report on financial and service level goals, along with initiatives.
Responsibilities will be wide ranging and include all facets of the management of the logistics functions including but not limited to daily and long-term customer order fulfillment, multi-warehouse oversight.
Requires constant realignment and adjustment of tactics to meet the needs of our customers while achieving financial objectives (e.g. inventory, cash flow, utilization, etc.)
Works closely with other senior level people within and outside of the company to resolve highly complex and sensitive issues.
Translate strategic goals and revenue targets into tactical execution.
Build a strong self-directed team to deliver exceptional products and support to customers.
Develop and execute cost effective logistics strategies to meet customer expectations
Establish annual logistics budget.
Critical components and abilities of this role include:
Subject matter expert (SME) for global transportation carrier management and in implementing programs across business units.
Influence Sr. Leaders across the business to gain alignment and approval for procurement strategies that will drive productivity and service goals.
Work closely with logistics team and transportation providers on the strategic elements that ensure short and long term transportation performance.
Set core strategies for capacity management & key procurement events
Provide leadership and effectiveness in strategy development and execution
Must be able to work and be effective with minimal staff and possess collaborative/influence skills that will enable results across organizations/teams
Work on special projects as they arise
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
Strong business relationships and understanding of IT systems.
Strong organizational and presentation skills as well as attention to detail are essential.
Strong analytical, negotiating and collaborative skills
Strong knowledge of current Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong leadership skills to manage various stakeholders, at both functional and cross-functional levels
Oracle ERP System preferred
High-level understanding of international and domestic logistics concepts and operations.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Finance, Business Management, Information Systems
Minimum of 10 years progressive management experience.
Work with drug/device combination products is desired.
Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments required.
Experience with demand modeling and statistical forecasting techniques.
Experience with planning in a Global environment.
Experience in inventory control methods, inventory expiration requirements, and achieving metrics.
Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean certification
APICS Certification Desired
Knowledge or prior experience as it relates to data/information exchange throughout supply chain network
Strong familiarity with import/export compliance
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
