Position Summary:

The Global Data Foundations CoE Lead (GDFCL) role is a senior role within the Global Data & Analytics IT team, reporting to the Global Data & Analytics IT Lead. The Data Foundations address the whole life cycle of the data including Ingestion, Platforming and Consumption of Data for use by Data Analysts and Data Scientists in support of Decision Making.

The GDFCL works closely with local, regional, and functional business teams for their data needs, ensuring that the business requests are prioritized and addressed in alignment with Eisai's strategy. He/She will work with stakeholders at all levels within IT and the business to enable effective and efficient governance of key data assets across the data lifecycle from ingestion to platforming and consumption, emphasizing on FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data at desired quality level, thus enabling the use of data as a key asset at Eisai.

The GDFCL will be accountable for establishing the Data Foundations CoE (Center of Expertise) to deliver on this mission by fostering the implementation of key capabilities through the right Roles & Skills, Practices and Technologies. The capabilities include, but are not limited to: Data Catalog Management, Data Quality Management, Self-service Data Access (through a Marketplace), and establishing single-source-of-truth for key data sets (Master & Reference Data Management). He/She will work with various local and global functions to harmonize Roles & Skills and partner with the Global Data & Analytics Technology Lead (GDATL), ensuring that the latest technologies and best practices for a flexible architecture are adopted for Eisai's use.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Strategy, Planning & Execution:

  • Responsible for formulating, refining, and implementing the Global Data Foundations Roadmap that aligns with the desired outcomes to support Eisai's strategic objectives.

  • Accountable for the execution of the plans and delivering the key capabilities to the business according to the agreed upon priorities and timelines.

  • Responsible for the planning including scope, timeline, and global budget management and for the optimal use of available resources both during the initial program execution as well as during operational execution.

  • Responsible for ensuring smooth transition to regional/functional IT teams for operationalization and maintenance of the data solution capabilities.

  • Define the success criteria to measure the execution, and drive communication to stakeholders on the health of the program and take responsibility for risk management and course corrections as needed.

  • Responsible for establishing and driving committees for Strategic Steering, Resources Prioritization and Advisory Guidance and reporting to them.

2.Stakeholder Management:

  • Responsible to work with Stakeholders (Business and IT) to understand the data needs of the business, and assess the required change warranted by introducing the new data capabilities in strict collaboration with them.

  • Responsible, in collaboration with IT solutions teams, for prioritization of the business data needs in alignment with the strategy at a broader level.

3.Enterprise Data Governance:

  • Responsible to establish an Enterprise Data Governance Council that drives data governance across Eisai using a Federated Operating Model that includes representatives from business teams (local, regional, functional, security, privacy, etc.).

  • Responsible for working with the council members to facilitate the development of global data policies and support teams in operationalizing them as per local/functional requirements.

  • Responsible for facilitating the definition of a minimal set of standards for Data Governance tool implementation such as key elements of Business Metadata Definition, minimal key metrics for Quality of Data, and KPI standards for reporting to enable global consolidation, etc.

4.Change Management and Communication:

  • Is a champion of change and is accountable to deliver fit-for-purpose communications.

  • Responsible for the articulation of the overall global data governance roadmap to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Accountable for the communication plan including various channels and in close collaboration with the EIT OCM team.

  • Responsible for delivering key messages to foster and encourage teams to embrace a data driven culture through persona-based communication.

5.Data Literacy and Training:

  • Responsible for developing and executing a global data literacy program across the organization as a means to drive data and business transformation.

  • The lead will also drive the literacy program to increase talent internally around the usage of data as an asset.

6.Technology Modernization and Innovation:

  • Contribute to the data technology modernization effort working closely with the GDATL and other technology leads and BRMs (Business Relationship Managers).

  • Support PoCs and pilots for technology and process innovations within the scope.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Have a strong business acumen and solid experience with Pharma value chain data and data flows with special focus on Commercial and R&D.

  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field. A Business degree or MBA preferred.

  • At least 10 years Pharma experience required and a minimum of 5 years with data related activities

  • Strong relationship management skills in working with business stakeholders, IT team members, and senior leadership teams across geographies.

  • Should be experienced in translating business needs for data foundations including quality, cataloging, self-service data access, MDM (Master Data Management), data democratization, etc.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

  • A solid level of understanding of technologies for realizing data foundational needs, especially focusing on data governance and management.

  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of aligning data initiatives with broader business goals.

  • Ability to work with technical lead(s) in developing and communicating reference architectures and to contribute directly to the business architecture articulation.

  • Experience with data governance policies and knowledge of related processes such as privacy, security, compliance etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and/or influence decision making, conflict management and ability to adapt to a changing and highly dynamic work environment.

  • Experience with both Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid methodologies.

  • Working with distributed teams across time zones and in matrix format a must. Ability to work autonomously and work effectively with global teams including vendor/partner teams.
