The purpose of this position is:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the planning and execution of global congresses across all disease areas and geographies for the organization utilizing promotional / medical exhibits

  • Oversee the direction of all associated ancillary activities associated with the Congress, such as pre-con meetings, regulatory and legal walk-through, as well as overseeing and managing the hospitality booth for the international attendees

  • Provide direction to the US coordinator and EMEA Key Account Congress leads for all national, regional and local congresses

  • In depth knowledge of the Congress meeting sourcing and contracting process

  • In depth knowledge of the HCP data documentation tracking and collection requirements across EMEA

  • Develop a Celgene global presence with the Congress Associations leveraging the global footprint

  • Identify areas within the organization where there are shadow teams supporting local Congresses and events. Develop synergies and standards within the organization to support and execute the event

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Understanding key objectives and messaging across products, diseases and franchises; and gaining alignment across senior leadership for the development of congress strategy matching with overall corporate priorities and objectives.

  • Evaluate and select providers of services according to customer requirements

  • Execute congress strategy and oversee selected suppliers, as well as manage internal legal, regulatory and medical review of content/materials, to deliver a high quality and effective congress presence on time

  • Ensure that the event is delivered within budget and defined metrics to evaluate return on objectives / investment

  • Monitor and research industry trends and technologies, making appropriate recommendations to advance congress strategy objectives

  • Chair and lead cross-functional planning teams, provide guidance/recommendations based on experience and industry knowledge to develop timelines, monitor status, and provide comprehensive communications.

  • Oversee exhibit agency for the execution of the booth design/flow, structure, messaging hierarchy, visual/interactive elements, distribution materials, and on-site exhibit operations.

  • Oversee and manage the meeting logistics agency(s) for all global planning, housing, registration, ancillary events, logistic communications, financial reconciliation and on-site logistic coordination across geographies

  • Conduct site inspections and select optimal venues to achieve business requirements for congresses and meetings

  • Coordinate with the Franchise leads to review and evaluate the annual congresses calendar and align with the budget specifications

  • Facilitate global communication to ensure transparency and complete understanding of congress initiatives

  • Develop and manage annual congress budgets for multiple business units, review billing and create department cross charges for allocation

  • On-board new teams/therapeutic areas and serve as an advisor within the congress and meeting environment

  • Steward optimal usage of the meetings management software and capability, including broadening the application to generate value for Celgene, and ensuring quality, accurate, complete enterprise data

  • Generate awareness regarding meetings management awareness to drive compliance and link (where possible) to Celgene enterprise programs

  • Build and maintain relationships with professional healthcare and congress strategy associations and participate in association meetings

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain SOPs for congresses; continuously evaluate and evolve the Congress processes and procedures to align with the growth of the business and align globally

  • Alignment of commercial and functional relationships with strategic global partners, including areas of meetings logistics management, production, and audio /visual, in addition to continuing to develop a meeting hotel strategy. Focus on quality, consistency, and financial competitiveness (e.g. regional/global rate schedules)

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • 12 years pharmaceutical convention/meeting planning experience, including international and logistics management of major events

  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills, providing highly-effective communications to internal and external stakeholders

  • Highly motivated self-starter with ability to perform within a fast-paced, dynamic environment, well organized with great attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to influence change across diverse teams both as an individual contributor and a collaborative leader

  • Experience participating on cross-functional and / or global teams in a matrix organization

  • Manage complex projects simultaneously; proactively approach operational issues and recommend creative problem-solving solutions

  • Deep understanding of the pharma industry, brand strategy, and the regulatory environment

  • Budget and project management skills

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership skills on project teams

  • Prior experience managing others in a global environment

  • Ability to manage and oversee 3rd party agencies

  • Strong industry network with existing relationships with healthcare and convention associations

  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work well under pressure or when experiencing challenges

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • BA/BS required; CMP Certification required; MBA preferred

The Global Pricing & Market Access (GP&MA) function in Celgene is responsible for ensuring patient access and achieving reimbursement for our products through demonstration of value to payers, physicians and healthcare systems. This is achieved through the development of compelling, differentiated product value propositions supported by robust clinical and economic evidence. Th Executive Director, GP&MA Multiple Myeloma will lead the team that supports Celgene's Multiple Myeloma in line (REVLIMID and POMALYST) products and development portfolio. The position reports directly to the VP of GP&MA Hem/Onc and the candidate will be a member of the GP&MA Leadership Team. The position will have direct reports who are responsible for the execution of GP&MA programs and activities to support REVLIMID, POMAYLST and assets in clinical development.
