You are a communications and media relations professional looking for an opportunity to tell stories that align with the brand and business priorities of a global integrated communications agency.

Weber Shandwick is seeking an experienced communicator to join its global corporate communications and marketing team. This role will focus heavily on external communications and be responsible for driving external visibility of the firms key priorities, and in particular, promoting the firms wide range of capabilities and client work.

You will work closely with our global leadership team, business/practice leaders, regional/market leaders, client teams and partner with colleagues in business development and thought leadership.

Responsibilities

Media Relations & External Communications

  • Lead an effort to proactively uncover great stories that align with the firms key priorities, including promoting the firms work, growth, account updates and thought leadership
  • Identify, pitch and secure positive stories with marketing trade and business media
  • Manage incoming media inquiries and issues
  • Write, edit and proofread content, including press releases, thought leadership, messaging, presentations, executive briefing materials and more

Events & Awards

  • Evaluate and project manage participation in industry conferences and events; manage executive/spokesperson participation as appropriate; coordinate sponsorships and advertising
  • Oversee the entry process and promotion of awards that recognize the agency and our people

Regional & Global Coordination

  • Lead an effort to further align the firms communications and marketing efforts across North America, coordinating with local office leadership to strengthen its network of marketing partners across the region
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, senior leaders and regional marketing teams across APAC, EMEA and Latin America

Requirements

  • 7-9 years of communications, professional services or marketing services experience (advertising, creative, digital, consumer or media environment a plus)
  • Strong media contacts and relationships, with a record of success in securing media placements in top-tier marketing trade and business publications
  • Strong business acumen of marketing trends and the ability to translate complex concepts into compelling narratives for a wide range of audiences
  • Experience with crisis communications/issues management preferred
  • Excellent writing skills are mandatory
  • Fluency in major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) and familiarity with a variety of social media tools and metrics preferred
  • Experience with media databases and monitoring tools
  • Ability to foster relationships and maintain connections internally and with external partners
  • Extremely detail oriented with ability to manage and execute multiple projects
  • Experience and confidence in working with senior leaders
  • BS / BA degree or equivalent years experience

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of writing and reporting, as well as a grasp on the types of stories that drive engagement with a variety of audiences – from employees to clients to the industry at large. </p> <p>This position will sit on New York’s global communications and marketing team.
