UWMC Essential Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Director, Food and Nutrition Services, UW Medical Center. This individual will direct, evaluate, coordinate, plan, organize and facilitate the operational, financial, clinical, quality improvement and personnel activities of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) for the UW campus of UW Medical Center and for the Northwest Hospital campus which will be known as UWMC Northwest Campus beginning January 2020.

The Director will also collaborate with Harborview Medical Center on UW Medicine initiatives of mutual interest. This individual will provide direction, coordination and leadership to all Patient Food Service, Clinical Nutrition, and Retail Services provided to patients, visitors, faculty and staff at two hospital locations.

REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in dietetics, food and nutrition, health care administration, business, hotel/restaurant management, or related field AND at least five (5) years of senior management experience directing Food and Nutrition Services in large complex medical centers. Additional related experience may substitute for the Master's Degree.

Registration with The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred.

Experience managing multi-site operations preferred.

Experience managing major food service construction/remodeling projects preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.REQUIREMENTS:L-DI | DIETITIAN CERTIFICATION - WA State

Join us, and find out how many ways Virginia Mason offers you the chance to focus on what really matters - our patients. * High school diploma or equivalent. * Current State of Washington Food Handlers Permit. * Working knowledge of high-volume line cooking and safe food handling techniques. * Demonstrated competency in basic food production methods such as: slicing, cutting, shredding, grilling, frying and basic baking of pre-packaged and frozen products. * Ability to accurately read, interpret, and implement standardized recipes. * Demonstrated competency in safely and accurately operating a variety of commercial and food service equipment including, but not limited to: knives, slicer, thermometers, measuring utensils, scales, toaster, food warmer, chopper, mixer, blender, steamer, oven, microwave, grill and fryer. * Ability to manage several tasks and set priorities in high volume, fast-paced environment. * Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language at an 8th grade level. * Ability to perform basic mathematical computations using units of US currency, weight measurement, and volume. * Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, recipes and procedure manuals. * Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Preferred: Two years experience in a food preparation capacity.
