Summary:

The Director Financial Reporting directs and oversees the activities involved in creating, designing, establishing, and maintaining financial systems and reporting as essential input to the strategic planning, decision-making process, and management of the Credit Union. Ensures compliance with existing and new generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory accounting procedures. Assists in coordinating the execution of internal and external audits. Manages general accounting, regulatory accounting and accounts payable processes. Key contributor to annual external audit and internal audits.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for accounting, financial reporting and accounts payable.

  • Designs and builds necessary systems policies, internal controls and processes to support the business

  • Oversees and coordinates the preparation of monthly financial statements and other reports, for review by the board of directors, and senior/executive management by collecting data from the core system and other sources and organizing data into reports.

  • Manage financial reporting, information databases and develop ad hoc reports that support strategic planning, decision making, and financial strategies.

  • Leads the preparation of monthly financial statements and Board reports.

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Track and manage cash flow and cash balances.

  • Ensure compliance with existing credit union policies and procedures and develops, recommends, and implements improvements to existing policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Work with internal and external auditors to minimize any non-compliance action items by preparing schedules, records, and reports that will be required; and, meeting with auditors to answer questions and provide contextual information before, during, and after the audit. Ensures that action items resulting from the audit are addressed and resolved.

  • Performs all duties inherent in the role of a director

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Master's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.

  • Minimum seven years progressive accounting experience with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP and technical research.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.

  • Financial institutions experience required.

  • Experience in leading and managing a team of accounting professionals.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills.

  • Hands on experience dealing with a wide variety of complex accounting issues and present findings and recommendations in a clear and summarized manner.

  • Process oriented with ability to identify the need for process and control changes and be able to work cross-functionally to drive and influence these changes.

  • Ability to adapt quickly and operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment. Strong analytical and verbal/written communication skills.

  • Accounting skills and knowledge of general office procedures.

  • Proficiency in computerized systems, spreadsheet development and databases.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to forge strong relationships.

  • Ability to assess a situation, mitigate risk, and find the most effective path forward.

  • Process improvement and project management experience.

  • Quick learner to pick up new information and technologies.

The good faith range for this position is $133,344 to $166,680 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

All candidates will be subject to a background check, credit check, and drug test to determine employment eligibility.
