The Role

This position will be a key contributor to the Company's external SEC filings and core external reporting function. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Financial Reporting & Analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Manages global data gathering, review and analysis process for Non-GAAP measures

  • Review materials relating to the Company's earnings release, as well as prepare press release tables and respective disclosures

  • Evaluate and determine the financial statement and disclosure impact of significant and complex transactions

  • Assists with preparation of SEC filings, including Form 10-Q's, Form 10-K, and Form 8-K's and related XBRL reporting

  • Assist in preparation and review of materials for Disclosure & Audit Committee.

  • This role will require frequent interaction with management personnel at all levels of our organization, including Investor Relations, Enterprise FP&A, Tax, Treasury and each of our domestic and international business units in order to ensure the accuracy of information included in each of our public filings.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements with the ability to research and analyze new and proposed accounting standards, as well as prepare benchmarking analysis

  • This role will also require significant interaction and coordination with our external auditors

  • Drive process improvements within the team and support cross-functional projects

  • Hires, leads, coaches, and develops A+ accounting staff to maximize effectiveness and productivity, while cultivating future leaders and business partners

  • Ad hoc projects as needed

Required Experience & Education

  • Typically requires 13+ years of accounting experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant, or equivalent work experience

Critical Skills

  • Minimum 6+ years of public accounting (Big 4 highly preferred)

  • Experience in SEC reporting, preferably in a large, complex global business

  • Comprehensive understanding of SEC rules & regulations, technical accounting, GAAP vs non-GAAP accounting, and comment letter processes

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, manage, and prioritize various responsibilities

Travel Requirements

Must have ability to travel up to 20% of the time

The team's primary function is to prepare and ensure that the company's consolidated financial statements are in compliance with GAAP. We are seeking a proactive independent thinker and strong communicator to join our Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Group as a Senior Analyst supporting the Cox Communications, Inc. (CCI) division. This position will interact with business and finance leaders across the company to provide consultation on technical accounting matters. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: * Responsible for accounting, analysis, budgeting and reporting for CCI debt and investments portfolio. * Perform technical accounting consultation and guidance to support corporate departments and field locations. Research technical accounting issues and the evaluation of new accounting guidance. * Achieve timely completion of deliverables to internal and external clients which includes monthly, quarterly and annual tasks for CCI, monthly reporting to Cox Enterprises financing reporting for consolidation and coordinating testing selections with external auditors. * Assist in the preparation of documentation for and the coordination of annual audits. The financial reporting group serves as the main relationship owner with the external auditors. * Assist in completion of CCI internal special projects such as bond offerings, acquisitions and dispositions. * Assist preparation of quarterly and annual CCI financial statements distributed to investors, analysts and senior leadership. * Continue to develop industry and technical accounting expertise and knowledge by attending CPE workshops, webcasts and seminars. Qualifications: * Ideal candidate possesses at least two years of experience in public accounting. * Strong knowledge of current US GAAP. * Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and re-prioritize as necessary. * Active CPA license required. * Big 4 public accounting firm experience preferred.
