L3 Electron Devices currently has an outstanding opportunity for a talented Financial Planning & Analysis Director at our Torrance, California location. Reporting to our Vice President of Finance, you will manage our financial analysis and business management functions, providing analytical support to the various functional groups within the division. In addition, you'll have daily interaction with Controllership, Business Development, Operations, Engineering, Pricing and Contracts personnel. Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic financial leadership on decision-making issues affecting the division.

  • Recommending, developing and implementing improvements to current methods and procedures.

  • Overseeing the financial budgeting and forecasting process, including key metrics such as Orders, Sales, Profit, Net Funds, Working Capital, Overhead expenses and direct / indirect rates.

  • Ensuring timely and accurate corporate reporting.

  • Providing ad-hoc analyses to support senior leadership decision making.

  • Working closely with the Controllership Department to manage the monthly and quarterly financial operations reporting cycle to Corporate and internal financial reports.

  • Special projects as needed to support financial management and business units.

  • Ensuring that appropriate internal controls for the division are in place, and providing support for SOX compliance.

Qualifications:

You will need at least 15 years of increasing responsibility in financial and accounting disciplines in a manufacturing environment, with strong operations and leadership skills. Other qualifications that will enable you to perform successfully in this challenging position include:

  • Strong analytical skills and experience in data analysis, pricing, financial planning, and program controls.

  • Proven effectiveness as a change agent in a cross-functional and matrixes organization.

  • Requires strong leadership skills and willingness to embrace change.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities; attention to detail; and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Thorough knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), as well as GAAP general accounting procedures.

  • Demonstrated results achieved by creating processes and identifying process improvements in a fast-paced and changing public-company business environment.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems and advanced computer skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Previous management experience is preferred.

  • Exposure to project accounting methodologies in a government contracting and commercial environment.

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Economics is required; an MBA and/or CPA is desirable.
