This role is responsible for executing the SAS MA vision and strategy for the EWS Mission Assurance Organization. The incumbent will need to partner with Mission Area Program, Operations, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain and Mission Assurance leaders to achieve Mission Assurance and Mission Area goals.
Responsible for EWS Mission Assurance activities with locations primarily in the El Segundo and Goleta, California area. Management of the Mission Assurance Managers and Mission Assurance Engineers supporting EWS locations. Responsible for Mission Assurance and Software Quality support of EWS programs.
In order to be successful, the Director, Mission Assurance will need to:
Collaborate with both the EWS Mission Area, and the SAS Mission Assurance Leadership teams to provide strategy and leadership to the program Mission Assurance Leads and the Software Quality engineers.
Provide comprehensive Mission Assurance strategy and support throughout the life cycle (Gates 0-11 activities and MA IPDP compliance) for EWS programs. Key activities typically include: understanding and communication of customer flow through requirements such as FAR/DFARS, ITAR, offset, public law, quality, warranty, etc.; customer interaction to include a strong relationship with the local DCMA; strong understanding and ability to work/drive RCCA; risk and opportunity management; financial management (i.e., EV, budgets, BOEs, etc.); strong partnership with, and provide program direction to hardware/factory quality and supplier quality; metrics.
Ensures requirements flow to all performing areas/functions, and supports the MA team through investigations, resolutions and reporting on issues. The MA lead ensures the MA team focuses on ensuring that customer expectations and end-user objectives are satisfied.
Ensures successful program execution through MA independent verification of engineering, contracts, supply chain, operation and quality activities, and independent verification of programmatic (cost, schedule, technical, and quality) risk management.
Provides MA focused engineering leadership for development, integration, and verification of complex systems. Through technical leadership, the MA lead ensures robust up front plans are in place for verification architecture, advanced verification systems, planning and coordination, assembly, preparation and maintenance; troubleshooting; installation & checkout; software integration; IV&V; test data reduction, and modeling, simulation, and analysis. The MA lead will also conduct or assign independent assessments of selected programs as necessary to drive the detection and surfacing of program execution risk.

Define and develop strategies to address quality standards while meeting both current and future product requirements. Identify and utilize standard company processes and tools and establish an appropriately sized team driven by metrics, continuous improvement, promoting a culture of mission assurance. Define appropriate goals and objectives to meet and exceed business objectives.
Minimum of 14 years of experience in a production, engineering development environment, or quality.
Excellent communication skills and presentation making ability. Excel at Executive Level relationships and interaction.
Lead a diverse, virtual Mission Assurance team and be a catalyst for accountability, empowered ideas, R6s, continuous improvement, promoting trust and respect, and strong two-way communication
Experience with the fundamentals of Quality, Quality Engineering principles, Quality Management systems, and Mission Assurance principles
Proven experience and ability to drive effective root cause analysis and corrective / preventive action
Experience in effective business capture processes and development of proposals
Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills, highly computer literate desktop computing and application programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Must have the ability to travel
Strong leadership skills and ability to be a change agent
Experience anticipating internal customers' needs and gaps, and providing solutions to reduce cycle-time and cost that position SAS to win new business and achieve AOP plans
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Collaborate with the business area cross-functional leadership team and BAMAs to identify potential safety, reliability and quality systemic issues, and sponsor or lead develop/implementation of SAS-wide solutions.
Familiarity with Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems and the Raytheon programs
Familiarity with DOORS (Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System)
Raytheon MA Cert level 4 or above
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Math, or Quality
